2 cups kala chana (black chickpeas) – washed and soaked in water overnight
3 tbsps cooking oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 green chopped
2 tsps coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp raw mango powder (amchoor )
* Salt to taste
1.Boil chick peas in pressure cooker .Chick peas take almost same time what Rajma takes in pressure cooker. Drain and keep aside for later.
2. Heat the cooking oil in a deep pan and when it is hot, add the cumin seeds. Cook till they splutter.
3. Add the green chillies and cook till they stop spluttering.
4 Add the boiled chickpeas, coriander, turmeric, red chilli, raw mango powders and mix well.
5. Cook for 2 minutes and then add salt according to taste. Mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes
6. Turn off the fire and garnish with the lime juice(if you like little citrus taste). Mix and serve while hot.
Above recipe is for navaratri.If you are make dry chick peas in general then you can add onion,ginger and garlic with chopped tomatoes.
