How to choose lipstick shade/colour for Indian skin

I was never a lipstick person. This is because I always thought that only brown and different shades of brown can only suit me. It took me years to understand what colour of lipstick with be ideal for my skin tone. If we talk about brands such as Revlon lipstick, shiseido lipstick, nyc lipstick they all have some or the other quality in them which makes them different and which do make us experiment with them more and more. But with million of lipstick shades in red, pinks, purples, brown and beige it is difficult to choose  which colour is going to look good on you.

Deepika Padukone is generally seen wearing lot of brown shades

And trying each and every lip color which you come across is certainly not a great idea but most of the time what we do is to try and pick up a shade which is neutral so that it suits us.
There was a time when I realised that I was buying almost the same shade but from different brand. Result was more or less the same but still I thought “No, this one is different Razz “.One day I did the swatches of four of my different brand lipstick shade and to my surprise there was hardly any difference in their shades.
I thought of putting down some of the tips which helped me in choosing the right lipstick shades :-

Dark lipstick goes well with light make up

1.Bollywood doesn’t have only fair actresses now. Dusky beauties like Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukherjee and Kajol wear some nice lipstick color. I generally notice their color and try to get the same color for myself. It works for me.
2.If you are the one who is not fond of buying too many lipstick shades then try choosing a colour that match with natural colour of your lips and also of your skin tone. This helps big time.
3.Light shades lipstick like neutral, beige, pinks and peach looks great in day time where as darker shade colors like red and browns look good at night.
4.Most of the Indian woman do not have large big lips but still exceptions can be there. Women with large lips should use brown, purple and bronzes where was women who have thinner lips can go for light shades like pink and peaches.
5.This goes as a makeup rule-If you wana go for light make up then deep color lipstick goes well with it and for heavy makeup natural shades go best.
6. Some time I just apply my lipstick without any make up. This has helped me in finding the right lipstick which looks good on me.
7. Some recommendation for olive skin tone girls will be red and brown shades.
8. Darker skin women can try plum or wine shade and well all know this, light skin woman can use deep pink. Looks great. In fact caramel color lipstick also looks great on fair skin or light skin women.
9.Always test a lipstick before you buy it.You might be sure of the shade or the shade on the tube or the shade might look good on the stick but possibility of it not looking good on you can be quiet high.
10.Please never test lipstick tester on your lips .They are completely completely unhygienic.
11.Instead of buying every color possible buy a lip brush  instead and blend different shades of lipstick to get a new color and a new look.
Do you have any other tip to share for Indian woman who are fond of buying lipsticks?
