This has been my pasta week and I was crazily looking for spinach pasta sauce recipe but sadly I didn’t find any instant pasta sauce recipe so I decided to make my spinach pasta in white sauce.
Having pasta in breakfast with hubby on bright Sunday morning is fun.While eating I keep telling my husband what all are the ingredients I added in the pasta even though I know he is more interested in having pasta than knowing about the ingredients
Before going ahead let us learn the
white sauce recipe
In a small heavy pan melt 1tbsp of butter on low heat and blend 1 tbsp of all purpose white flour(maida) in it.Keep stirring both the ingredients otherwise it may form clumps.Add 1/4tsp. of salt and cook it on medium heat for 2-3 minutes more.Now slowly add 1 cup of milk and stirr constantly.Continue cooking till the sauce gets thick.If you want heavy white sauce than you can take 2tbsp of butter and 2tbsp of all purpose flour.
This is the basic white sauce recipe which gets cooked in 5-10 minutes.
For Spinach pasta you need following ingredients.
1tbsp. of oil(olive oil)
1 onion chopped
1 green chilli chopped
A small bunch of spinach leaves
Salt to taste
Red chilli powder (according to taste)
250 gms of pasta(You can take any pasta of your choice)
Water to cook the spinach
Black pepper powder 1/2tsp
Oregano according to taste(optional)
Method and preparation:-
Step1 – Boil pasta according to instruction of the packet and keep it aside.
Step2 – Take a pan add oil , add chopped onion and saute it for 2-3 minutes.
Step3 – Add chopped spinach leaves , chopped green chillies , salt and red chilli powder.
Step4 - Add some water and cook 5-6 minutes till the spinach leaves are cooked.You can add more water if you think spinach is not cooked .Cook till whole water evaporates.
Now our pasta and spinach is cooked.
Step5- Make white sauce and when it is cooked add above sauteed onion spinach mixture and pasta in it.Add black pepper and oregano according to taste in the end and let every thing simmer for 2-3 minutes more.
Serve with garlic bread or toasted bread as per your liking.
