Maybelline Superstay Lipcolor review – It is Wedding season and in these seasons I find it really difficult to do touch-ups every now and then when there are so many social gatherings I have to attend. I wanted a long stay lipcolor for these special occasions like wedding, picnics, dates etc. I was using Lakme nine to five but the color was not staying on my lips till 5pm!! After googling a lot I brought this baby home.
Maybelline Superstay lipcolor is best option for busy working moms or anybody who just cant afford to spend much time for their makeup / touch-ups. The lipcolor comes in 20 different shades but I think all 20 shades are not available in India. I got this plumy brown shade 795 Sienna for self. There are some more shades under brown category shade. Though the shade is non glittery but it has got good sheen. The lipcolor comes in a small glass tube with a lip brush applicator in one side and transparent waxy conditioning balm (twist up form) on the other side.
Price of Maybelline Superstay Lipcolor is Rs 390/- (2.3ml liquid color + 1.8gm conditioning balm)
What It Claims: This long-wearing lipcolor creates 16 feel-good hrs of luminous color. Flexible formula moves with your lips for no caking or flaking. Ultra-conditioning refillable balm seals in softness for all day comfort.
How to apply: Clean / exfoliate lips properly. Apply foundation and powder on lips and all other normal things that you do before using the lipstick. Application of the lip colour is in two steps. First apply the lipcolor on lips and form a base coat, let it dry (which takes appx 20-30sec), and then apply conditioning lip balm provided with the stick to seal softness and bring shine.

My experience with it : When my dentist commented on the durability of my lipstick after my recent dental surgery and curiously asked what brand is it, I was assured I’m on right product. The two step process of the whole thing is time consuming specially when you have to wait till color is dried up and then apply the balm. However I don’t mind it since it stays all day long. I always put my lotus lip balm on my lips before applying this liquid lip color (and conditioning balm on top of it) so that it doesn’t get stretchy. Even if I don’t get time to re-apply balm whole day then also my lips don’t feel dry.
Pros: 1. No touch-ups for all day long.
2. Does not come off on clothing when you change dress.
3. Available in many shades, from pinks, mauves, plums to corals, reds, purple,
naturals to brown, in glittery and matte form.
4. Nice feel on lips.
5. A great value for the money you pay.
6. Great for weddings and special occasions.
7. No fading of color if you eat, drink or even kiss (opss!!)
Cons: 1. Taking it off is slightly time consuming.
2. Re-application of balm is required to maintain shiny lips. Lips starts flaking if
gloss is gone.
3. Two step process may be irritating to some girls.
4. I don’t know whether it is a con or not but you have to wait till your 1st coat of
lipcolor gets completely dry, then apply the balm.
5. Price is a bit more for just 2.3ml.(but for a durable cosmetic I think its ok)
6. I feel lighter shades stay less on lips as compared to darker shades.
Will I repurchars it: Yes. Although it is expensive for 2.3ml and also time consuming matter to take it off but when I think of the days I’ve been running around with bare lips just coz I’m too busy for touch-ups or the countless times I’ve reapplied lipstick just to have it disappear in 1hour, I think this Superstay lipcolor is worth purchasing.
