Hi All,
Today I’ll be reviewing my MAC lippy in High Tea. I bought this because I wanted a lipstick which would give an almost bronze look to work with heavily done eyes.
This is what the MUA suggested and I was honestly not sure of it but then I though ‘WTH, Lets give it a try’ 
It was also the first (and last) Frost finish Lipstick I ever indulged in.
- Size: 3gms
- Price: 950 INR approx.
MAC Verve is a Lustre Finish lipstick and can be worn alone or atop another lippy.
- Packaging: This lipstick comes in the usual bullet-shaped MAC packaging with the brand highlighted in silver. The details of the brand and the shade name is given on the bottom of the lipstick. The packaging is very sturdy and there is no chance of the lipstick opening up in your purse.
- Color: What attracted me to this shade was the fact that it is a frosty gold shade but with a light pink hue to it. I had never come across such a wonderful shade before and I fell for it hook, line and sinker The gold does dominate, but the subtlety of the Pink is what’s heart winning. Its quite similar to ‘Quiet Please’ shade, but the the Pink tone is what sets this baby apart.
- Texture: The lipstick is quite smooth and creamy without being sticky. It has a super frosty look because of which it tends to settle into the fine lines of the lips after 40mins of application.
- Coverage: This lipstick is a medium coverage one. One can try layering it over another lipstick but this works only if this shade is lightly taped on. Otherwise the frost is so dominating that your base color won’t stand a chance of being visible.
- Pigmentation: The lipstick has excellent pigmentation and a single swipe is all that’s required. This can instantly glam up a look.
- Fragrance: This lipstick has the Mac trademark vanilla fragrance which is not too strong and wouldn’t irritate any sensitive noses.
- Staying Power: This lipstick stays for about 3-4 hrs on my lips. The pinkish tinge may fade off but the gold frost look takes its time.
It does tend to settle into the fine lines of my lips and this is the one and only reason I don’t use this very often. Actually it was from this experience that I realised I had fine lines and learnt that gals with fine lines on their lips should avoid frost finish lippies. I also tend to avoid using this because it makes me look a bit pale..Pls do let me know if any of you know a good alternative to use this.

What I like about MAC High Tea Lipstick:
- It covers up any pigmented areas on the lips.
- The frosty finish is very attention grabbing
- Would suit most girls and is great for party wear to achieve that ultimate bronzed look!
- The staying power is very decent.
What I don’t like about MAC High Tea Lipstick:
- •It takes no time in settling into the fine lines of my lips
This reason alone is enough to make me avoid this lippy.

Zee..if u use lot of lip balm underneath this lippi and top it over with same colour lip gloss which i am sure umust be having it will solve out the problem..but shade does look very pretty..i myself don like frosty lipstick but i would like to try them and know how to make them work on me..
those with fine lines on lips should prefer satin finish the most.
I do hope it solves the prob..I hardly wear this coz of the oldy luk ti gives my lips…i have used it with a LB but even then it doesnt seem t work…ill hav t try with a gloss too…feel so bad to see such a pretty shade ignored
after this experience i stick to satins infact..nor frosts or mattes for me..
zee because it is too light so u might feel the fine lines more may be the darker colours wont trouble u that much ..hai na?
that may be true…all the frosty shades i have r more or less lighter colros…main darker shades to waise bhi kam lagati hu..

swatch on skin is rarely visible but on lips it shows off nicely !!

Thanx Mitha..Haan..the shade is much more visible on the lips than in the swatch..i had to stand in so many diff positions t get a pic in which it was a tinybit visible atleast!
i luv satin finish the most..and in MAC the amplified finish is my fav…i dont mind shimmers, provided its for an evening or party look…

Shade is good. I feel somehow frosty shades make dusky tone gals look old. I tried myself, but thank god i tried the cheaper one from elle 18. Now I have made a tinted lip balm out of it. Mixed it with maybelline lip smoothie n vaselline. That works for me now

hmm..i cant quite b sure whether it makes dusky gals luk older..coz i do have pals with a dusky comp who wear frosts and they look really nice…i personally feel that if ur lips r healthy and are line free then frost finishes can look lovely provided the right colors r used..

yep, it does cover mildly pigmented lips pretty well…plus, the frost tkaes attention away from any major pigmentation..

try using this as an eyeshadow base. isually use light frost finishes for that purpose .

i kno..totaly sad Paddy…i did try using it over a balm…but the only diff is that it feels thicker and takes only abot 20mins more until it settles in again…so no faida..
i too feel bad coz its a truly gorgeous shade!

Looks so pretty on you Zara!! When you feel its a bit too light for the occasion, maybe you can apply it over a darker liquid lipstick before it dries on your lips…that way both the shades ll blend n you’ll get a darker lip colour but with the shine of this gorgeous lipstick

I didn’t like it so much the swatch, but on yr lips it looks really good.
I have never tried any frostly lipsticks till date, but I feel they won’t look so good on me

I’m so scared of frosty shades – they get so much flak all the time that I have never tried one ever.
Plus I think I also have lip lines.. I don’t exactly know what they are though…

accha..just have a look at my lips ka pics..u see the tiny lines i have? i actually have more than wot meets the eye…this lippy when just applied luks nice and hides most of them..but in 40 mins u can see alot more of them and it just makes me luk old..

oh nice! the color looks lovely… if the issue is fine lines then I would suggest you you to use a nude lip liner all over your lips first and then apply it… am sure this’ll be of help
i recommend Maybelline’s lip liner in Nude… it’ll be just perfect
