Lakme sunscreens and I don’t get along! Last year I used it on my Himalayan trek, inspite of which I came back looking some 100 shades darker

Yup! I tanned like crazy ! 100 was an exaggeration
but definitely 4 shades darker . I had no idea tanning was possible at such an altitude
It happens.. We seem t think some kinda weather n atmosphere won’t make a diff but it really does. I get tanned even in winters like now..

Whatever you buy, just don’t buy anything with less than PA +++. Everything else is like throwing your money away! I don’t even understand why they sell anything with less UV protection than that. SPF 20-30 is adequate for city wear, SPF 50 if you are staying out longer for sports and it needs to be reapplied. Also if you layer a Vit C serum underneath your sunscreen everyday you will never have to worry about tanning or getting sun spots. I live in the California sun so I boost my protection by finishing off with a powder foundation/bronzer containing sunscreen.

Hi girls!
My most fav Vit C serum so far is Skinceuticals AOX serum 20 with 20% Vit C, You might want to start with a 10% and build up. I have also tried UNT C Clarity but I find it too greasy. Currently I am using Vitamin C Skin Boost from The Body Shop but I don’t think it is very effective. Next I am going to try Philosophy’s Turbo Booster C powder but if you want to save money you can get Ascorbic Acid powder for about $7 from your local health food store and mix a pinch daily with some water and glycerine (you must not make and store it). Wait for a minute and then layer your sunscreen/moisturizer with PA +++ on top and finish off with a bronzer/powder/foundation containing some form of sunscreen. At night use a serum/moisturizer with retinol. Olay and Neutrogena make some good ones. Retinol and Vit C do not work together so do not use Vit C at night. I don’t believe in expensive skincare because there are only so many known chemicals that work and just packaging them under expensive brand names means nothing! All you need is a good cleanser (try Neutrogena/Garnier), one with Alpha Hydroxy/Lactic acid to chemically exfoliate your skin (BHA/Salycilic acid if you are prone to breakouts) and follow the rest of the regimen above. Avoid manual exfoliaters with beads/grains that scratch your skin. Once a week use a home made ubtan with turmeric, yogurt etc. for an antioxidant boost and you will have the best skin ever! I prefer to spend my money on expensive make up and perfumes that gives me more bang for my buck!
