Bourjois Flower Perfection Translucent Smoothing Primer Review

Hi All,
Coming out of the sabbatical from WiseShe, I ventured out to get some amazing products from Bourjois at Beauty Centre, Crawford Market, that day. With their new mascaras launched and the Flower Perfection Collection recently making into the stores I ended up buying some amazing products from their Spring 2012 launch.
Bourjois being one of the oldest makeup brands and famous for their little round pots have always been delivering cutting edge cult products that have been applauded by customers and critics equally. In the Flower Perfection Range, they launch a lovely primer, a foundation, setting powder and a powder brush (that is not launched in India).

Bourjois Flower Perfection Translucent Smoothening Primer

PACKAGING
It comes a tiny lip balm like light pink container with just 7 ml. product retailing for 570 INR. There is nothing unusual  about the packaging. Its just basic and quite chic. With the amount of product Bourjois has provided I need to clear one thing that 30 ml primer lasts for a very long time and you may discard some product unused. So it is always better to have smaller quantities. Plus the amount needed at one go is very less too.
FORMULA
This balm like primer has consistency of a painkiller balm (like Amrutanjan or something) just that it is oil free. Since the ingredient list is not mentioned on the packaging I presume it has silica powder (which gives that powder feel) and a blend of silicones (for the oil free texture) with Azalea flower extract and some hither thither nutrients.
The primer helps smoothen fine lines and pores, hide surface blemishes, mattifies and when worn under the foundation helps it stay put longer and better. I also got a bit of lesser oiliness after trying it under a foundation as my oil prone skin stars glistening within an hour. I could not judge the wear of the foundation (how long is it extended) due to some reasons but I believe it could be a good too. Since the formula is oil free and non comedogenic it would not cause breakouts in acne prone skins.
This is not an unusual primer in the market. It could be easily duped with Clarins Instant Smooth Perfect Touch (Rs.1450 for 15ml) and L’Oreal Studio Secrets Under makeup base (Rs.750 approx.). YSL Matte Touch primer has the same consistency but it comes in a tube and is a bit liquid in comparison. Clinique’s Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector is drier in consistency where as Lancome La Base is more fluid.
APPLICATION
Take a pea size amount and apply in circular motions from the centre of the face wherever needed. Since it has not been mentioned ophthalmologically tested, I would not advice its usage over the eye area.

What I did not like about Bourjois Flower Perfection Translucent Smoothing Primer :-

  • It does not come with a spatula so one has to dip in their finger to get the product out. This can be a bit unhygienic.
  • It does not come with an ingredient list (which can be challenged) in their Indian packaging so one would not know in case they are prone to allergies to silicones.

  • Packaging -2/5

RECOMMENDATIONS :-
A good primer for oilier skins but I would not suggest for dry skins. Moisturizer underneath is a must for long lasting results. Since it is easily dupeable it is ok to have this.

I had to answer this question because same sit..oily skin, need to look fresh all day, the works..I find that the Loreal one that we get in India (named slightly diff but looks the same!) works perfect, under compact or foundation so Id suggest, go to your closest store and try it on under your compact and then by evening decide if you wanna buy it or chuck it Smile

  9. Hi Dr Neeraj, this sounds really good. I got hold of the Olay Covergirl primer, but it doesnt do much about oiliness. But I don;t think this has been launched here in Kolkata. Next time I go shopping, when I’m getting my HG helthymix again, surely would pick it up.
