July is a good month for sale in Kolkata, most of the shops give mega discounts because right after this season the Pujas will be coming up, and the stores need to stock brand new stuff. I love these sales, because I get SERIOUS BARGAINS here. For example, while I was wandering around Westside today, I checked out Max Factor counter, and they said that if you buy over 350/- you get nice mini nail paint free. I had set my eyes on the Max Factor Lipfinity Lip Tint pens for a considerable period of time, but most online stores keeping the product did not give me discount. However, this one did, and very soon, I had purchased not just the lip tint but also a Kohl pencil (and another pencil from the Bourjois counter next door, and a lipstick from Chambor, and because my Maybelline gel liner was over, and Maybelline counter was giving flat 15% discount…. Ahem, well, more on that later) and I got a lovely Hot Pink Max Factor Nail Polish FREE (Happy Dance).

Even before I had exited Westside, I unwrapped the pen and immediately applied it (call me what you want to, I did the right thing!) and then walked around the mall, proudly.

Okay, so here is my take on the product. First of all, this lip tint is not probably for women who have dry lips. It will make them drier. I have lips which are not very pigmented and not dry too, and they really settled well and when I applied it the first time it was very easy to color my lips fully with the pen. The pen itself is just like those fat marker pens,with a felt tip to add to the confusion (do not keep this near pens and markers, YOU WILL MAKE MISTAKES) and tastes quite like them too (yes, I speak from experience). If you mistakenly lick your lips you might end up with red tinted teeth, so BE CAREFUL with this one. There is a faint berry smell, and the lipstick itself is quite long lasting, and yes, it leaves that famous red ring on the outer rim of my mouth when I eat something, but otherwise, this sticks on for 4-5 hours, easily.
The application of this one is a bit tricky, and this is how you should go about it. First, contour your lips with the color, then use the color to fill up the lips. Then wait for the lipstick to settle down. It takes about 3-4 minutes for the lipstick to settle down, but then it is absolutely unmovable until you eat or drink something. Once it settled down, it becomes slightly sticky, so dry skinned beauties, I would suggest you guys balm over it. It also goes away when you wash it with water, and can be applied lightly or heavily. It is kiss proof, smudge proof, but washes in water, so if you are drinking… well. It is also very travel friendly, so don’t forget to carry it around for a touch up.
As for the color, Passion Red is a rich dark red bordering towards maroon which gives me the perfect 1940s Hollywood style red lips. It made a certain someone stare at my lips all evening and finally saying… “You know, this is one of those colors which look perfect on you” to me. Imagine the major smug feeling inside my heart. The color, I would describe, is very “Twilight” if you know what I mean.

This color is what is very close to the real thing. You might understand why I like it so much. I used it with a lip balm on it.
As I write, I am wearing the color and feeling incredibly smug. Stop me, someone.
What I love about MaxFactor Lipfinity Tint Pen in Passion Red:
- Very Sexy color which will suit most Indian Skin Tone
- Lasts at least 4 hours if you don’t eat or drink in between
- Is not allergic
- Can be washed off with water
- Quite easy to use
- Does not bleed
- Smell is quite pleasant
What I don’t love about MaxFactor Lipfinity Tint Pen in Passion Red:
- Settles in lines and is not good for dry lips at all
- Picks up dry patches and displays it
- Goes away if you eat something and leaves red ring around mouth
Rating: 4/5 (seriously, the color alone is worth it)
Will I Repurchase: I have a lot of reds. I know that. But if I am given a choice I will repurchase this. Just as soon I have had my way with the remaining colors. I just saw three. I need more. I want more.
