When a friend of mine got back from LA and brought me Victoria’s Secret lip shine, I was like, whoa nelly! Then, a few days ago, one of them got over (since they are pretty small ones, this is an achievement still) and I decided to repurchase it once again. That was when I got the news from my friend that Steamy, my favorite color, has been renamed apparently to Fling. Though they have still got the original color on their page, and it is called Steamy there. It is the same thing, but in a different name. Now, isn’t that weird?
However, I did find quite a few other options from Ebay, Strawberry.net to other places to purchase Steamy from, and I will do so. However, their website has the photo but not the lippy. Now, isn’t that strange?? (In the end I did not buy the VS. Instead, I bought a Maybelline Lip Tint from Feelunique. Let’s see how Feelunique works out for me).
Price: $14 (as of now)
Quantity: 1.5 ml
Okay, so first things first – this shade kept me happy all winter and most of summer. The color is a lovely shade of plum which actually looks brownish plum with tiny golden glitters in it. It is quite creamy and the packaging makes it look like a fat pen. Once you open it, there is a brush which you use to apply the cream, while the black thingy in the bottom can be rotated to get more of the stuff out. You need to rotate it a few times to get some out, a fact which I like, since I can control the amount that comes out of the top. It does not drip out, unlike many others, and has stood the climate test (did not get drippy even in the heat). It is not as shiny as a lipgloss, and it spreads on quite similar to a balm, and hydrates my lips. At the same time, it is also quite durable, and one thing I have noticed is that it leaves my lips with a slight tint and sparkles, which, weirdly enough, looks good on me. The other great thing is, men love it. I have been complimented on this color by a huge number of men – from office colleagues to friends and even my dad came and said “that looks good on you”. Victoria’s Secret, after all.
The staying power is about 4-5 hours if I don’t eat anything, and if I do, it goes, and I have to reapply. I love the brush applicator, and cannot help but make an unfair comparison to my Nyx Silver Plum Lipgloss, which fades out a lot faster and the brush is way more cumbersome. This brush is gorgeous.
The package is super travel-friendly, and easy to handle, and I have carried it a lot of times and it has dropped but nothing has happened to it. The other con of this color is that if I try to wash it or wipe it off, it does not go. I have to use a cleanser to get rid of the glitters fully. Though its okay for me, since I do a CTM every day.
Now for the color.
