Hi All,
I was never much of an eyeshadow person. I never wore eyeshadows to work and I don’t go to many functions. But earlier this year I decided that if I wished to apply eyeshadow, I’d stop being afraid and conscious of what other people would say. But at the same time, years of self consciousness can’t be swept under the rug within minutes. So I decided to take baby steps and start with light and sheer shades which would not be too bright or gaudy for work. I ended up picking a whole load of neutrals and light pinks and Pink Venus is one of the shades I picked then.
My take on MAC Eyeshadow in Pink Venus:
- Color: Pink Venus is a lustre finish eyeshadow which to me resembles an iced-pink shade….think shimmery-baby-pink-meets-raspberry-pink. It’s quite like that.
- Price: INR 720 for the refill
- Pigmentation & Texture: The pigmentation is decent and exactly what I need. It isnt as soft as the matte or the velvet finishes but isn’t abrasive either. Lustre finishes admittedly not the most pigmented eyeshadows but like the lipsticks, they provide more of a wash of color on the lids.
- Staying Power: This stays on my lids for about 4hrs without a base. With a base it lasts about 6hrs (its the max I’ve tried).
This is one of the most perfect shades to start with. For work I always stick to neutral browns and light pinks like Free to Be, Perky and Pink Venus. Pink Venus is a very versatile shade and here are some ideas of how I use it:
- When I’m in a hurry I just use this as an all-over lid shade. The shimmer in it brighten up my sleepy eyes and lends a nice soft look to my face.
- I use this shade all over the lid and then use a Purple in the outer half and in the crease. I use shades like MAC Sketch or Bourjois Intense Extrait Purple and use it with a light hand for just a little definition. I don’t use too much since I wear it to work.
- I use this to sandwich the crease shade at times too which is an idea I got from YouTube. I use this on the inner half of my lid, use a darker shade for the outer half and the crease and then use Pink Venus again right on the top edge of the crease to sandwich it in. It just looks different and in a weird way… complete..
Swatch of MAC Eyeshadow in Pink Venus:
I have swatched MAC Texture & MAC Sketch so you get a better idea of the shade.
What I like about MAC Eyeshadow in Pink Venus:
- The shimmer isn’t OTT.
- Can be worn to work as well
- Can be worn alone on the lid as well.
- Can be use to create a whole variety of looks.
- Its a light shade and hence difficult to go wrong with
- Adds a touch of sparkle to the look
- Not chalky and has a decent staying power.
I personally don’t find any downside to this shade. However, if you’re looking for a deep, pigmented pink then this may not be the one for you. If you want that light wash of pink though, then don’t miss this!
