Colorbar Nail Lacquer in Lemon Drop – Review & NOTD
I’ve never worn yellow on my nails and I was a bit nervous about how this shade would look on me. I was having images of neon, banana-yellow nails that gleamed devilishly so much so that it would scare all the kids in the neighborhood
My fears were short-lived once I finally got down to applying this and now me likes it very much!

About Colorbar Nail Lacquer Lemon Drop
The Nail Polish is a simple one stroke application and fortifies the nails while giving them a high shine and intense color. It is fast drying and chip resistant. It does not yellow the nails and is long lasting; just what you need to make your hands look salon perfect!
- Quantity: 9 ml
- Price: INR 150
- Shelf life: 2 years from mfg date
Shade Description:
Lemon drop is a cheery, bright yellow that has the teeniest hint of mustard that lends the color some warmth and makes it more wearable. Since my hands are a bit wheatish in tone, I was afraid this shade would look awfully stark on me. But surprisingly it brightens up my hands without looking OTT.
Application:
Here’s where it fails big time! The color is absolutely sheer and application is streaky and uneven. It takes a minimum of 3 coats to opaque color. Application is far smoother when used over a base coat than when worn alone. Plus with the base coat, I needed only about 2 coats of lemon drop to get even color. It does not bubble and dries well within a minute.
Finish:
It has a nice glossy finish. The nail paint looks lovely and smooth in day light. Under artificial lights the streaks tend to be more prominent.
Staying power:
I can’t comment on the lasting power or chipping issues since I haven’t worn this for more than a day. I have an obsession with matching everything to my clothes and this is the kind of shade that can clash badly with certain colors and outfits.
Removal:
Removing this is quite a messy affair considering the number of coats it takes to apply this nail paint. Nevertheless, it does not stain nails and inspite of the intense yellow shade, my nails don’t look one bit yellow after removal.
What I like about Colorbar Nail Lacquer in Lemon Drop:
- Cheery, summery bright yellow shade
- Has a hint of mustard that makes it more wearable for most skin tones
- Looks equally good on both short and long nails (refer first and last pic
) - Applicator brush is efficient and easy to use
- Dries well within a minute
- Glossy finish
- Does not stain nails
- Claims to fortify nails
What I don’t like about Colorbar Nail Lacquer in Lemon Drop:
- Color is overly sheer and application is streaky
- Needs a minimum of 3 coats to get even, opaque color (works better with a base coat)
- Removal is messy because of the multiple coats
Rating: 3.9/5
Final thoughts on Colorbar Nail Lacquer in Lemon Drop:
I would recommend this nail lacquer purely for the fun color. If you love bright hues and don’t mind the application issues I’ve mentioned, then go for it. This is also a very apt shade for nail art, don’t u think?
