This was my first ever international purchase and needless to say I was excited beyond words since this is like the brush kit of my dreams! I was also hell nervous until the parcel landed safely in my arms . I wanted a brush kit that had essential tools for beginners, had short handles, was of good quality, travel-friendly, vegan and most importantly, it ought to look cute I honestly didn’t think I’d one so purrrfect!
I was initially apprehensive of the color combination. I mean… baby blue and pink brushes?? Don’t get me wrong, I do love girly stuff but these seemed like something Barbie would use. The other vegan set is black and steel (known as Mr.Bunny) and I can get those anywhere so I settled for this. Believe me, I don’t regret it one bit now! For the price I paid, I got a kit that looks like none other that I’ve ever laid my eyes on! Sorryyyy, I’ve rambled on quite a bit, haven’t I? I could go on and on, but let’s get on with the review…
About Sigma Mrs.Bunny Travel Brush Kit:-
The Mrs. Bunny Travel Kit was specially designed to deliver the perfect makeup application. This kit contains seven travel-size brushes from our best-selling Essential Kit that utilize the Sigmax HD filament. The brushes come in an innovative and functional container that turns into two brush holders to keep you stylish, organized and vegan-friendly!
Price: It was previously $59. Now it’s $65 (exclusive of shipping)!
Container: Height: 7 in., Width: 2.5 in.
E30 – 5 1/8 in. (13.2 cm)
E40 – 5 in. (13.9 cm)
E55 – 5 1/16 in. (13 cm)
E65 – 4 15/16 in. (12.5 cm)
F30 – 6 in. (16 cm)
F40 – 6 1/16 in. (15.5 cm)
F60 – 5 7/8 in. (15 cm)
For reference, if you own any Sigmax brushes like the F80, these are approximately of the same length.
The brushes come in a powder-blue leather holder that has two buttons on either side. It opens up into two cups that serve as brush holders. You can store the face brushes in one and eye brushes in the other. It even has a bit more space to accommodate more brushes so you can store other brushes in this case as well while travelling . The entire thing comes packaged in a cardboard box that’s one of the cutest I’ve seen. It’s just too adorable to throw away . I haven’t included the picture here since this post is already image-heavy. You can view the carton here.
There are 4 eye brushes and 3 face brushes. All the face brushes come with plastic bristle-guards (shown here)
Sigma E30 Pencil Brush
Soften and smoke out lines. Soften pencil liners along the top and bottom lash lines, add shadow to line the eyes, or use to highlight inner corner of eyes.
Although it claims that you can use this to line your eyes with shadow, I feel the tip is a bit blunt for the purpose. A more pointed tip would have made it easier to draw precise lines. But it works well in other ways mentioned above. This is also great for defining the crease and outer V.
Sigma E40 – Tapered Blending Brush
: Soft blended crease. Using just the tips to apply color, sweep back and forth through the crease for a diffused and blended finish.
Blends shadows wonderfully and is a hot-favorite among many eye makeup enthusiasts. The tip is wide and well-rounded and it tapers down towards the ferrule. If you want a whisper of color on your lids, use this brush directly instead of the regular eye shadow brush.
Sigma E55 Eye Shading Brush:-
Even application of color. Place color across the whole lid for an even and strong application of product.
This brush is adorable! It is the chubbiest eye shadow brush I’ve used (I mean the handle) and the bristles are dense, fluffy and soft. Great for packing on color and for highlighting the brow bone as well.
Sigma E65 – Small Angle :-
Create precise lining. Moves fluidly and easily across the upper and lower lash lines. Use with gel, cream or powder liners.
I never quite imagined that a brush like this would make lining such a breeze. It is a treat to use and works well with cake eyeliners too. I love using this when I want the teeniest wing at the end of my liner. The angled tip gives me the perfect wing on both eyes and it’s hard to go wrong with this one. I’ve also used it to do my brows but it’s a tad small for that. It will work fine if your eyebrows are fairly thin.
F30 – Large Powder Brush:-
Even powder application. Uniform blending of powder products onto the face and body.
Gloriously fluffy and soft, you’ll want to keep touching this to your face! The large size makes powder application quick and easy. Although it is very dense, it has not shed a single hair and I’ve washed it quite a few times.
F40 – Large Angled Contour:
Subtle cheek application. Use the angle to softly contour the cheekbone. Can also be used to apply blush.
I don’t contour my face so I use this purely for blush. It applies the color precisely, diffuses it well and the size fits perfectly onto the cheek.
F60 – Foundation: –
Smooth foundation application. Apply liquid or cream products such as foundation and primer.
I presumed I’d use this brush the least since I also bought Sigma F88 which is indispensable as a foundation brush. But I ended up using this brush a lot with my Young Discover Youthopia Foundation. The bristles are fairly stiff yet super soft. It applies foundation evenly without any streaks.
Cleaning & Maintenance:
I’ve washed all the brushes a number of times with baby shampoo and none of them have shed a single hair…umm filament? All the brushes are dual-toned, with the base being brown and the tips white. In spite of this fact, the colors do not bleed at all and I have not experience any staining of the white fibers. I’ve also noticed that these dry faster than natural-hair bristles.
What I like about Sigma Mrs. Bunny Travel Kit:-
- Super cute!
- Sturdy, travel-friendly case
- Case doubles up as brush holder (or even eye pencil/mascara holder )
- Holder has extra space to accommodate more brushes. Yes, your F80 will fit in here too
- Handles are of comfortable length (unlike some travel-size brushes that are too short and stubby)
- Not a SINGLE useless brush! (No crappy sponge-tip applicators or lash combs )
- All brushes are dense, very soft and do not irritate skin
- East to wash and they dry faster than natural-hair bristles
- No shedding, no bleeding and no staining of fibers
- Bristles retain their shape after repeated washes
- Brushes are very well made and are of great quality. No wobbly handles and no unevenly-cut bristles.
- Vegan. Made of synthetic HD filament and not animal hair.
- Since they are synthetic, there is less absorption into the fibers and can be used with powder, cream as well as liquid products
What I don’t like about Sigma Mrs. Bunny Travel Kit:-
- What’s not to like?? This kit is perfection personified! The only thing that I would’ve liked better is perhaps the addition of a lip brush. The Mrs. Bunny Essential Kit (that comes with 11 brushes) doesn’t come with a lip brush either and for me it seems incomplete without one.
- Only available online (although Sigma recently opened up their first store in America) and shipping charges to India are very high.
- Expensive. And to top it all, they just increased the price!
If you’re looking to invest in a kit that has all the brushes that a starter kit requires, I’d say you go for Sigma Mrs. Bunny Essential Kit. Apart from the 7 brushes mentioned here, the Essential kit also includes a duo-fibre stippling brush, a concealer brush and a medium angled eye shading brush. I got this one simply because I’m obsessed with short handles and of course, I do travel a lot. I ended up buying the other brushes separately . If you already own a fair amount of brushes and are on the lookout for a travel-sized option, your search ends here. It doesn’t get any better than this!
