The importance of sunscreen cannot be overstated. When it comes to skin care, the sun is the worst of your friends. While sunscreens don’t usually show any results right away like other skin products, it is actually the most essential one. While most of us Indian gals don’t like tanning, it is not the only harm the sun does. Exposure to sun damages skinfrom within and causes pigmentation and other problems associated with ageing, which are very hard to reverse.
So, to summarize, if you want to preserve your youthful skin and keep looking good as you grow older, use a good sunscreen. Also an SPF of more than 50 does not work better than SPF 50, according to FDA. So don’t pay more for SPFs higher than 50 expecting better benefits.

It comes in a standard cream tube with a bright yellow body and a white cap. It looks nice and sunny!
My take on Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Sun Defense for face SPF 50 High Protection:-
As you squeeze it out from the tube it looks like a thick white cream. It looks really heavy so I was instantly scared that it would be too heavy for my oily skin. But the moment I touched it, my fears vanished as it was quite light and spread really easily on my face. It looks thick, but is actually quite light when you apply it.
I have oily acne prone skin. I have recently got rid of most of my acne after years of trial and error treatment options. I now get only an occasional breakout like ‘normal people’. So I was really happy when this product didn’t break me out and I have used it for 2 months now. At first when I apply it, it seems to be extremely oily with a disastrous sheen. But within minutes it gets absorbed by my skin and the skin gets back to its matte self. My skin usually gets a bit oily as the day progresses, but this product didn’t do anything to worsen it. So it is certainly suitable for all skin types.
It has a nice earthy fragrance. It is a mild fragrance, same as the other creams in their eight-hour range. It reminded me of some nice spice, I know exactly which… but maybe cinnamon! I really liked the smell, so I dab on a bit on my hands too just to sniff it once in a while! I don’t know much about perfumes, so I really don’t know how to explain it better, sorry!
What I like about Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Sun Defense for face SPF 50 High Protection:-
- High SPF of 50 suitable for the hot Indian sun, protection against broad spectrum of UVA and UVB rays.
- Really suitable for all skin types, even oily and sensitive skin like mine
- A little quantity, even lesser than pea sized, is enough to apply on the whole face
- A nice mild fragrance though it doesn’t stay for long
- Quite thick in consistency but spreads easily and evenly on application
- Does not cast a whitish or otherwise sheen
- Simple and sensible packaging
What I don’t like about Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Sun Defense for face SPF 50 High Protection:
- Extremely expensive
- Not easily available
Will I buy this product again?
No, It is really too pricey for me. So I won’t buy it unless I suddenly become terribly rich! J
Do I recommend it? I do, if you like using premium, world class products and don’t mind the heavy price tag.
