I have been a fan of mascaras all the way, it just lifts up the look a few notches. I always have one in my kitty but I keep on dumping them every 3 months as I have sensitive eyes and the last thing I would want is a nasty eye infection. This way, I get to try a lot many of these. The latest one which I bought recently is the Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Definition mascara. Bourjois is one of my favorite cosmetics brands but this is the first time I am using their mascara. Let me review this in detail for you below:

My experience with Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Definition Mascara:
If you wear contact lenses or have sensitive eyes like me know the importance of using the right mascara for eyes or any other eye product for that matter. I have been using it for two months now and I can say that this is perfectly safe for eyes. I have never faced any discomfort wearing this.
When it comes to packaging, Bourjois is a brand which never disappoints me and this mascara is no exception too. The cute hot pink packaging looks lovely and attractive.
The first thing which is noticeable about this mascara is that it has a rubber brush. The bristles are very thin and closely packed. The bristles do reach to the smallest lashes too as claimed. This mascara does a great job in defining the lashes but the claim of Max Volume is a bit farfetched. It does provide volume to lashes but not as dramatic as the name suggests. By Max Volume, I certainly hoped for more volume than it provides. I can still make peace with this volume part though as this makes a good regular wear mascara and I like wearing it to work.
But the worst part about it is the inability to hold curls! It does hold curls for a couple of initial hours but then it is gone! This lengthens the lashes well and the defining promise is true too but not the volume. This is misleading and unexpected from a trusted brand like Bourjois.
Well, not all is bad about this mascara though. This does not smudge or budge. You can watch any romantic movie and feel free to shed a few tears too (happy tears) and not worry about its smudging.
I have never liked the mascaras which are a pain to remove and more often than not some of it stays on my lashes. I have to use a good oil based cleanser every time I have to remove this.
I have been a fan of Maybelline Colossal mascara but I do not like the idea of them testing on animals, hence I am looking for a good alternative and the search is still on. If you have any recommendations of good mascara from a brand which does not test on animals, please do let me know. I am aware of Clinique but I am keeping that as my last option due to its cost.
Oh, I completely forgot to mention that this clumps a lot, the only saving grace is the jet black shade it has!
Well, let me sum up the pros and cons of this mascara below:
What I like about Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Definition Mascara :
- The jet black shade
- Does not smudge
- Does not irritate sensitive eyes
- Staying power is Ok
- Easily available on counters
- Good and attractive packaging.
What I don’t like about Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Definition Mascara :
- Does not hold curls
- Is overpriced for what it delivers
- Removing it needs work
Okay, so you see I am not a big fan of this mascara. Although I have one nice thing to say that it did not bother my sensitive eyes. I have heard nice things about Bourjois mascaras though, maybe I will try a couple more but definitely not this one.
