Sailex And Shehla Khan Showcased Amazing Red Carpet Creations At Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013
Sailex Presented The Fashionable Mystique Of The Far East At Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013
It was a collection that recreated the beautiful fashion from the Land of the Rising Sun and Cherry Blossoms with contemporary western touches. The fashionable mystique of the Far East was presented by Sailex at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013. Experimenting with the sartorial style directions from the land of dainty kimonos, Sailex allowed the traditional Japanese ensemble as well as the quipao and the cheongsam to set his creativity into motion.
Working with luxurious fabrics and the glamour of jewel tones, Sailex translated them into classic sophisticated silhouettes for the stylish global lady. For ultra-glitzy dressing up, which had large doses of not only minimalism but also ‘maximalism’, the collection offered a palette of regal ensembles that told a fluid, feminine story all its own.
In a crisply edited show of 24 ensembles, divided into four colour groups – Peacock blue, purple, fuchsia and scarlet – the fabrics used were crepe, satin, taffeta, chiffon and tulle to project the sophisticated yet seductive look.
Embroidery was discreet with bead work creating the cherry blossom motifs on selected places of the well-finished garments. Silhouettes were controlled and fitted though a pea coat, raglan sleeve dress with Peter Pan collar, shift and trench jacket had some leeway in volume. The raglan sleeve brought the oriental influence for the oversized beaded dress and the final line of scarlet creations played with necklines ranging from deep “V”, square, to wide, round and high. The solitary peacock blue silk satin sari with cross strap blouse was elegant in its simplicity.
For dramatic western wear with oriental glamour, which the fashion conscious women will appreciate, Sailex showcased a finely crafted and edited Red Carpet line bearing his distinct design elements.
Shehlaa By Shehla Khan Presented A Bold Fairy Tale Fashion Fantasy At Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013
She called her collection “Tale of the Unexpected”, when Shehla Khan, for her label “Shehlaa”, introduced a bold fairy tale fashion fantasy at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013. Drawing inspirations from the many fairy tales she had adored in the past, the collection was a romantic melangé of Indian and Western creations. While the silhouettes were bold and daring there was an element of structure in the very feminine, graceful, regal outfits. The lineup of very stylish garments had the mix of varied textures along with the intricate artistic embroidery in classic black and gold, which gave an enduring, dreamy appeal to the collection.
Partial to tulle, Shehla added brocade, satin, lace and silk to complete the fragile fabric story. High voltage glamour came in the form of the opening black/red jumpsuit with bead work, followed by a tantalizing nude silk baby-doll covered with black net splashed with delicious strawberry motifs while 3D flowers added glitz to the red net mini.
Cutwork gave the silver embroidered skirt and tiny choli an ornate beauty. The beaded tasseled slim gown, will-power ivory midi sheath and net trail upped the style quotient. Beaded fringes appeared in layers and tiers for lehengas, gowns and minis, while sexy shorts or cigarette pants played hide and seek under tulle skirts. The final lehengas worn with micro cholis were undoubtedly a very sensuous part of the show.
Stopping the presentation was the very gorgeous Jacqueline Fernandez, star of “Murder 2” who looked stunning in a pale pink net lehenga with multi coloured painted floral bouquets and lace corset.
For Red Carpet glamour that will turn the wearer into the Belle of the Ball, Shehla Khan’s “Tale of the Unexpected” had just the right fashion elements.
