Today in DIY series about three different face pack recipes for three different skin types using one common ingredient I was thinking so as to write about which ingredient, and there comes my hubby for my rescue. Unki farmaayish- lauki ki kheer with lots of Chironji in it- he loves desserts with lots of dry fruits so one will always find me experimenting with these “Mewa” in one or another sweet dish. As I started preparing the kheer I remembered how before my marriage my Ammi use to give me Chironji in milk to apply on face for beautiful skin.
Bass the ingredient of today’s post was finalized- it got to be Chironji which is known since ages for all its positive effect on beauty and health of skin.
Face pack recipe for dry skin:
- 1 teaspoon finely crushed Chironji (Choora of Chironji)
- 1 teaspoon full creame milk.
- A pinch of turmeric.
First of all spread chironji in a dish and put it in sunlight for 2-3 hours then finely grind it in mixer/grinder and keep the choora in airtight jar. Now take this powder of chironji and to it mix a teaspoon of milk in it. Finally add a pinch of turmeric and mix it well so that you can apply it easily on your face. Let it be like this on your face for 15-20 minutes and then wash it off with splashes of water.
Milk is a natural cleanser. It eradicates deeply rooted skin impurities and also provides natural moisture to the dry skin. It keeps skin supple and hydrated. Turmeric is well known for its skin lightening effect, it also has natural antiseptic properties which is very good for skin. Chironji provides natural oils to the skin and also improves the overall texture and look of the skin.
Face pack for Combination skin type:
- 1 teapoon Chandan Powder.
- Rose water as per need.
- 1 teaspoon Chironji powder.
Make Chironji powder as described earlier. In one clean saucer take 1 teaspoon of Chironji, to it add sandalwood powder and rose water to get a creamy consistency. Apply it all over your face avoiding under eyes and lips areas. After say 20 minutes wipe it off using a damp cloth and pat your face dry.
Sandalwood powder has unique qualities- it removes your dry patches and also checks the excessive production of oil in your problematic T-zone. It helps keeping skin look glowing and bright. Rose water is mildest of astringent and cheeks occasional zits and acne. It also moisturizes your skin and keep it hydrated. Chironji is a rich source of fatty acid and helps in getting rid of pigmentation and old scars. Over a period of time this mask will give you a uniform skin texture.
Face pack for oily skin:
- 1 teaspoon cornflour.
- 1 teaspoon lime juice.
- ½ teaspoon Chironji choora.
Since chironji is a bit oily we are using here cornflour and lime juice which will balance the oil issue and provide all the necessary benefits that oily skin needs. To 1 teaspoon of cornflour and ½ teaspoon of chironji powder add 1 teaspoon of lime juice, mix well and apply it all over the face, and you know by now leave under-eye and lips area. After 15 minutes scrub it off using light circular motions and pat dry your face.
Cornflour is a rich source of beta-carotene and antioxidants that prevent the UV generated free radicals from damaging the skin and increase the production of collagen that assists in the maintenance of smooth skin. Cornflour absorbs excessive sebum and make look skin less oily. Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C which removes tan and put acne in check. Chironji clears old acne scar and also even out the skin tone which results in clearing blemishes and dark spots.
Thus now it is clear that Chironji is not only an ingredient in yummy sweets but also can be an ingredient in effective DIY face mask recipes. Our Dadi-Nani are well aware of benefit of this wonderful dry fruit and are using it since ages to lighten skin tone and maintaining softness and suppleness of the skin. I purposely keep the recipes of these masks very easy and simple so that you can get the best out of easily available items in your kitchen. I know we ladies are very busy people- we are like smart task masters juggling between our home-front and work place. In this bhaag-daud some-times we tend to neglect ourself- more so if it is a question of pampering ourself. This is not done; ladies gear yourself search for the aforesaid ingredients in your kitchen and prepare a face mask as per your skin type. Spare at least half an hour from your busy routine- use this face mask and get ready to surprise your hubby with glowy you. Until next time stay gorgeous, Ciao
