I picked up this lippy sometime last year thanks to Shweta and again is from my much loved Lustre finish range. I have very dry lips and most finishes tend to accentuate them further; so the lustre finishes are pretty much my savior for all seasons.
The lipstick is from their permanent line and hence comes in the regular black, bullet shaped packaging.
Color: Sophisto is described as berry pink with a pink shimmer…and although it looks downright scary in the initial pics, thats exactly how it looks on the lips as well. Its a gorgeous prune-berry shade with a subtle shimmer which isnt really visible on the lips at all.
Texture & Pigmentation: This shade is a lustre finish and hence on the sheer side. Its definitely pigmented although you’d need to swipe it about 5 to 6times to cover up any lip pigmentation you may have…even then tho it will not look opaque.
Staying Power: This stays about 3hrs without eating or drinking which is decent considering its a sheer shade.
Why did I pick this shade? Well, i’d tried it out at the store when persuaded by the MUA and fell in love with it. Its like a surprise..better than the Kinder surprise! (Sorry for the PJ, couldnt resist) However, it waant available in Pune and so I got thru Shwe who is the diva of all things shopping :*
Whom would this shade suit? This would suit all skintones..but the catch lies within the wearer. It would be a good buy for those who dont have or have mildly pigmented lips. Those whose lips are heavily pigmented wuld find this a waste as it would not be visible at all.
MAC Lustre Lipstick Sophisto Swatches:
All in all, i like this lippy alot. Its one of those shades which one can wear everyday and doesn’t make one look old (like most berry shades do).
Have you tried MAC Lustre Lipstick Sophisto ?
