Hello ladies…I am here with another product which I whole heartedly wanted to review. I’m a big fan of MAC cosmetics, in fact I used them for my wedding also and this is one of my all time favorite brands. And one of my favorite pressed powders is also the select sheer Pressed Powder created by MAC; I don’t think I am alone in thinking this as it is one of the MAC’s best selling powders. This one is a must-have in my make-up bag.
MAC – Select Sheer Pressed Powder is a compact powder which allows you to achieve a flawless-looking complexion without caking. The powder seems to stay on the face for a long time – no shininess by the end of the day. The reason I’m so fond of this pressed powder is that it keeps my face feel fresh and clean, preventing me from shining too much. It gives a natural and flawless appearance to my skin which I love. If I am going to an important meeting I touch up in the afternoon, but generally this is a good daytime product that does its job and lasts through the working day.
The product comes in the classy black packaging which is common with all of theMac products. One really handy thing is that, a mirror is included which is useful when putting on makeup on the go. The mirror is great; it allows you to see your whole face, unlike some which are pretty small and hard to get to see where you are applying your make up. The compact also comes with a sponge applicator. Available in a great variety of shades.
About MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder:
it’s a Micro-fine, sheer and silky, portable, powder which won’t shift your shade or leave its mark, let skin’s natural vitality and freshness glow through. Blurs lines. Makes skin look flawless, which by all good reasons & means I found true.
It’s suitable for everyday use and provides a great base for keeping blusher and eye shadow in place as well.
Price & Availability: You can get this pressed powder from any MAC outlet in your city and it will cost you INR 1650 for 12gms.
You can but it from here also
Directions for using MAC – Select Sheer Pressed Powder:
There is no specific instruction on the pack to suggest you to use it in a different way from other powders.
Simply open the bottom of the compact and take out the sponge pad. Then rub this against the powder to get a sufficient amount onto the sponge. When you have done this, simply apply the powder onto your face. Ensure that you apply even amounts so that your face does not appear patchy.
My experience with MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder:
I love the Mac packaging its plain but very classy looking. Mac’s products are usually of a high quality so I don’t mind splashing out that bit more on them. The texture of this powder is relatively light which made me worry that it wouldn’t fulfill my expectations of good coverage but I was pleasantly surprised with the results as it glides onto my skin nicely after I have applied a thin layer of foundation. Infact it blends in really well, creating a real even color. This powder is invisible on the skin and goes on completely sheer, simply mopping up your face and then disappearing. Well it also hides blemishes to some extent.
I like the range of colors; there are 13 shades to choose from. I tried out few of the testers on my skin and the color that matched me best was ‘NC 35’. Although it is technically a pressed powder, it actually goes on like a powder but covers like a foundation. When using this product I never end up with that horrid line around the bottom of my face where you can see the difference in color between the neck and face. The only thing I don’t like about this product is the sponge that it comes with; it seems to make your make-up look really uneven and definitely is not super bendable. I recommend using a brush rather than this sponge.
I must admit the staying power is pretty impressive, lasts 4-5 hours without reapplication. I always use it at work and in the evening it looks fine too, it is versatile. I tend to re-apply this on my t-zone as this is where it is needed the most, and after applying you can notice the difference straight away. With this powder my skin never has that ‘clogged’ feeling that you can get with cheaper powders, so doesn’t make my skin break out as a result. I also use it on bare skin after moisturizing if I’m in too much of a hurry to do my full make up.
It is a lot more expensive than some it is a fairly good product for the money and will last you for a fairly long time if used regularly. Even at the higher price end I think this product is reasonable value as you do get 12g so it isn’t tiny. Mine lasts me for more than a year and I use it continuously, often more than a few times a day. (P.S: I justify this price to myself by thinking that as I use it every day for a whole year
This MAC – Select Sheer Pressed Powder snaps shut properly and is perfectly secure. It stays in my handbag at all times for emergency touch ups.
What I don’t like about MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder:
- Good face powder with natural finish, evens out the skin very well
- Provides sheer coverage and doesn’t look powdery or dry
- Lasts for very long time
- The application of this powder is extremely easy
- No chalky or heavy feelings after use.
- Good oil control
- Covers blemishes and imperfections
- Easy to carry and travel friendly.
What I don’t like about MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder
- The sponge applicator all I can say, this could have been a better one.
My Recommendation: Overall I think this pressed powder is fantastic.
I would especially recommend it to anyone looking for a powder which is good to carry around with you in your handbag as it is compact and has everything you need for application on the spot. It’s very natural and doesn’t take away the skins natural glow, provided you don’t apply it too heavy. It applies easily, blends well and lasts a long time so in its own right I would recommend it.
My Rating: 4.5/5
Would I Repurchase? I will continue buying…
