Loreal Paris Shine Caresse Lipstick in Aphrodite Scarlet Review, Swatches & FOTD – A few days back I was so bored at home and hence just packed up my baby and went to the mall. I did see some fab clothes but its next to impossible to try on clothes with a wriggly 11mt old hanging off my leg so i settled for loitering about makeup counters instead .. No matter what we do we always come back to makeup dont we?
So anyways, in the course of my swatching and questioning the SAs about any new products, the Loreal SA showed me these new lippies. I usually find Loreal makeup too overpriced so before swatching any i asked for the price..i was flabbergasted when she said 499bucks!!! Finally! Loreal woke up and thought to be logical!
And then began a swatch fest which resulted in me purchasing 2 shades and here’s the 1st of the 2 reviewed for you…hey that rhymed!
About L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick:
Don’t just stroke your lips,Caresse them. Lips say yes to this Caresse. A flutter of kissably soft light-weight feeling colour. Its delicate texture glides onto lips creating a veil of colour with a luminous shine. Available in 12 bright and eye catching shades.
The lipstick contains light oils, crystalline wax, transparent blenders and pearl pigments that deliver true color with a weight-less comfort.
Price: INR 499.
Packaging: Comes in a packaging similar to the Infallible Lipsticks and looks very chic with its metal tab with the brand embossed on it.
Color: Aphrodite Scarlet is a strawberry pink shade with a red undertone. The red is more prominent only after multiple swipes though.
Texture & Pigmentation: The texture is a cross between a lipstick and a lip balm. Its super glossy and I dont need to apply a lipbalm on my dry lips prior to applying this. Pigmentation is sheer but buildable to a medium coverage. Where anyone of any age can use this, those with pigmented lips may find that the gorgeous color doesnt show up at all. The color does not settle into the lip lines but yes, if you have chapped lips to begin with then this will highlight them.
Staying Power: This may probably be the only disappointing part for some. It does not stay more than 2hrs on me. I dont mind reapplying lipsticks but some of you may and thats where this falls short of our expectations. It would last even lesser after eating and drinking..
My Verdict: I am a sucker for glossy and lustre finish lipsticks. I have super dry lips and whine every time any brand comes up with such amazing lipsticks in a matte or satin finish because I cant use them. These are right up my alley and i feel like they are made for me.
These lipsticks make my lips look uber juicy and the glossy effect is perfect for all. I love strawberry shades for how youthful it makes me look and how bright! From college gals to working women, i dont think anyone can resist these.
What I like about Loreal Shine Caresse Lipstick in Aphrodite Scarlet:
- Its very hydrating..Dry lipped gals will luv it!
- The shade is aimply gorgeous
- One of Loreals more affordable lippies
- No need to use a lip balm underneath this
- Perfect for those who like sheer to medium coverage lipsticks.
- Chic packaging.
What I don’t like about Loreal Shine Caresse Lipstick in Aphrodite Scarlet:
- The staying power may deter some.
- Not for those with very pigmented lips.
The last time I was this happy with Loreal was about 3yrs back when they launched the Nutrishine lippies.. These remind me of them except that these have no shimmer at all. I would definitely recco this to everyone..I purchased Mauve Cherie too and am on the lookout for the Coral shade too which was OOS at the store.
Which one would you buy??
