Lip gloss is a product which is to add color to the lips at the same time giving it a glossy luster. It comes both is liquid and soft solid variants. Did you know that it was first invented in 1930 by Max Factor? Neither did I till I decided to read the Wikipedia page for lip glosses (extremely bored at office and come on, its general knowledge!).
Anyway coming to the product I would like to review today – “Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss-Electric Shock”. This was a product I really regretted buying because I made the purchase in real hurry. I did not see any of the other shades in the collection but instead just purchased what the SA threw at me and left. But from the day I decided to reluctantly give it a try till today this has become one of my most favorite lip gloss shades ever.

My take on Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss Electric Shock:
It comes in a transparent crystal like transparent tube giving a good view of the color and the contents. It comes with a shiny silver cap making the overall packaging sturdy and attractive.
The applicator wand contains soft hair like bristles which helps with effective collection (just the right amount comes out) of the product and easy application.
The consistency of the gloss is just right. It is neither too runny causing leakage nor too thick making it hard for application. It is so smooth that it glides across the lips just like honey nectar (Maybelline claims).
Now coming to color, it is a bright pink shade with blue undertones and no shimmer. It has 8 other variants giving a wide palette to choose from. It is glossy and makes your lips look plump and lustrous. It keeps the lips hydrated for over 2-3 hours after which the gloss finish starts fading away leaving the pinkish tint on lips.
This tint lasts for over 5-6 hours giving your lips a natural look. The color is not much pigmented hence you require more than one swipe to get a sheer opaque look (I wouldn’t call it suitable for girls with dark lips).
What I like about Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss Electric Shock:
- Very glossy making lips look lustrous.
- Bright and different shades.
- Not glittery (a plus for me)
- Not sticky (yayy)
- Very good staying power.
What I don’t like about Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss Electric Shock:
- Not very pigmented.
Overall verdict: Like Maybelline claims it to be it does have sophisticated colors giving a nice shine and making your lips feel lustrously soft and supple. I have already bought another color (captivating coral). I would definitely suggest all the gloss lovers out there to give this one a try.
