After reading tonnes of raving reviews of the Maybelline Color Show nail polishes, I decided to give them a try. I have always been sceptical of drugstore polishes because of their weak pigmentation and slow drying time. So I was a bit hesitant while ordering them. But I am so glad I did! The Color show nail polishes surpassed my expectations.
Today, I’ll be reviewing Denim Dash, which is a part of the Denim Collection of the Maybelline Color Show range.
Price: INR 75 for 6mL
My experience with Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish Denim Dash:
Colour: Denim Dash has a dusty medium blue base with light blue micro-shimmer. It really does look like denim! The base has a tiny hint of green in it, making it lean slightly towards teal. The dusty quality dulls it down a bit, which makes this nail polish more wearable. It’s not an in-your-face blue. It dries to a satin/semi-matte finish, but I added topcoat as I wanted a glossy finish. It’s a really unique shade and I can’t think of any dupes from other brands.
Application: The first coat went on easily, the formula felt so creamy! But by the time I got to the second coat, the formula began to feel thicker than I would have liked. It wasn’t too bad, but I recommend waiting for a few minutes between coats. The bristles of the brush are firm and even, and they fan out easily.
I noticed a few bald patches in the photographs (index and middle finger), but they weren’t noticeable at all on my nails.
Pigmentation: Denim Dash is highly pigmented. It’s completely opaque in two coats (except for those mysterious bald patches in the pics), which is amazing for such an inexpensive drugstore nail paint.
Drying Time: The drying time of Denim Dash was really quick, which is once again quite rare with nail polish brands in this price range. It was dry to touch within 5 minutes.
Longevity: For the price, Maybelline Color Show polishes last an impressively long time. With a base and top coat, your mani will look as good as new even after three to four days, after which you’ll start seeing hints of tip wear.
Availability: Easily available at beauty counters of any shop and most online stores.
What I Like About Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash:
- Beautiful, unique color
- Firm, even brush
- Quick drying time
- Easily available
What I Don’t Like About Maybelline Color Show Denim Dash:
- Formula feels thick by the time you come to the second coat
I will definitely be ordering more of Maybelline’s Color Show nail polishes. I wish they would add more interesting colors though. They have too many red-pink crèmes and frosty metallics. As far as the formula is concerned, it would be unfair to compare them to OPI or China Glaze. But the formula is much better than other polishes in this price range. For 75 bucks, these are totally worth it!
