Today I’ll be reviewing a pretty talked about shade from Sleek’s True colour range. I had reviewed “Peaches and Cream” earlier, which despite being a unique shade, failed to impress me immensely. So read on to find if this is different or equally disappointing on those aspects.
About Sleek True Colour Lipstick Candy Cane:
Awaken your makeup with a True Colour Lipstick. Get high impact lips with our vitamin E enriched lipstick in a selection of matte and sheen finishes.
Packaging: It comes in a small cute rubbery textured black twisted case. The case is smaller than usual lipstick cases in the market. The shade name is written at base. It has quite a colourful pretty looking outer box as well.
Shade: It is an astonishingly beautiful shade, a blend of red, coral and a pink. A really really really bright shade. I have seen this on so many different people and it looks so different on every single person. On my lips it is bright coral pink and on my cousin, who is a dusky skinned beauty, it is more reddish. This is a shade that will rock in any season, even in this hot sultry weather, when I pair it with my white top and denim, it just feels so fresh and relieving.
Texture: It is in sheen form, so the texture is very soft, glides like butter, easy to apply and is super moisturising, but without any tackiness.
Pigmentation: Insanely pigmented. One swipe is enough for that bold splash of colour on your lips.
Staying power: As a sheen lipstick, I thought it to have an average staying power. But it is surprisingly super long lasting. I wore it 7 hours at a stretch and the colour was yet so strong. The glossiness was gone within 2-3 hours, but the colour was there screaming and blazing. After fading, it leaves a strong stain behind, which even after rubbing with makeup remover, refuses to go.
I find it to be the closet dupe of MAC Impassioned and somewhat close to MAC Party Parrot. Texture wise it is closer to MAC impassioned, both are super creamy and moisturizing and have a similar sheen; while Party Parrot is matte and not as glossy as Candy Cane.
Summing up my likes and dislikes:-
What I liked about Sleek True Colour Lipstick Candy Cane:
- A bewitching reddish coral pink
- Beautiful sheen on lips.
- Soft lustrous finish.
- Amazing texture.
- Easily glides on lips.
- Gorgeously pigmented.
- Doesn’t bleed.
- Doesn’t settle on lines.
- Stays long.
- Cute, travel friendly packaging.
- Reasonable if spend in dollars for the price
What I don’t like about Sleek True Colour Lipstick Candy Cane:
- Leaves behind stubborn stain.
- Exfoliation is a must before applying this lippy, as it tends to turn matte after few hours and thus it may highlight dry patches.
Would I repurchase True Colour Lipstick Candy Cane?
Well, maybe not this particular shade, because I want to try their other shades from this range. “Heartbreaker” being the next one.
Would I recommend Sleek True Colour Lipstick Candy Cane to others?
I think it flatters each and every skin tone. So, yes…
Over all I am satisfied with this lipstick. Gorgeous colour, creamy texture, highly pigmented, long staying, what else can I ask for??
I am so happy that it didn’t disappoint me like the Peaches and Cream.
Rating: 4/5 (1 marks deducted for the extra energy I had to put rubbing the stain off my lips )
