Recently every brand are coming up with two things; 1. Chubby stick/balm/tints and 2. Liquid lipsticks, here is my review for liquid lipstick / lacquer rouge from the brand SHISEIDO. These were launched somewhere last year in 12 shades , however recently the brand included 4 new ASIA Exclusive shades , I may try and swatch them all for you next time I am in store but for now here is review for one of the shade from initial launch – OR508 .

About Shiseidp Lacquer Rouge:
Inspired by Japanese Laquerware, one coat provides intense color and deep luster. This rich liquid lipstick leaves lips as smooth as lacquer. Applicator fits closely against the lips for a comfortable, even application that does not bleed. Lacquer Rouge improves dry, rough or peeling lips with continued use, leaving them smooth and deeply moisturized.
- Contains Super Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE.
My experience with Shiseido Lacquer Rouge SOR508 BLAZE:
SHADE – OR508 or BLAZE is described as “a hit of Fiery Yellow Orange”, it is warm toned rusty orange shade with super fine golden orange shimmer to it. The shimmer is super fine and adds that metallic look to lips once I apply two layers; it makes my lips look fuller and plush with high glossy shine. I find this shade works really well over a lipstick.
Texture – These are light weight, creamy but thick liquid lipstick, not sticky but still stay well without bleeding and feathering or settling in fine lines. I particularly like this shade to layer over a rusty orange shade like – MAC CHILLI LIPSTICK, they make a great pair.
Pigmentation – I had a love hate relationship with this shade, earlier I had tried a deep RED from this range which is fabulous shade but as always I never try lip products in store and buy them with just swatching. After trying this on lips I found it was way too sheer but then two layers were good enough to deposit colour nicely as this is little shimmery and has less body then plain shades from same range . I have attached pictures in natural sunlight and indoors to show you how it looks depending on lighting.
Staying power – I get some 4 plus hrs with mild munching, this particular shade is not very long staying as its lighter shade.
Packaging – It comes in black curvy sleek tube with doe foot applicator, there is no shade name on the tube but you can get info online. SHISEIDO have numbered their products but for easy reference they have added shade initials before numbers – OR for orange, RD for RED, PK for PINK , RS for ROSE and BE for BEIGE . This is marked as OR508 as it is from orange family.
What I like about Shiseido Lacquer Rouge SOR508 BLAZE :
- I like the rusty orange shade with metallic look to it.
- It is not too heavy like other liquid lipsticks, very creamy and light weight.
- The staying power is also good and it doesn’t leave my lips dry.
- A great shade for layering on top of rusty shades to add life and shine.
What I don’t like about Shiseido Lacquer Rouge SOR508 BLAZE :
- I would love to try a shade like this but opaque finish in single layer, this needs a little layering.
- The staying power is not great as compared to other shades from this range.
- The brand is not easily available everywhere and the price is also steep.
Ratings – 4/5 – I adore the formula of these, not too heavy and thick and sticky yet deposits colour and covers pigmentation. This shade needs 2 layers to get opaque finish however some shades like – RED, FUCHSIA and BROWN are opaque in single layer.
Have you tried Shiseido Lacquer Rouge SOR508 BLAZE ?
