My experience with MAC Lipstick Red Balloon :
Packaging:- The usual shinny black and silver bullet case. As it is from limited edition, I wish it came in a different fun package.
Shade:- Red Balloon is a gorgeous medium, brightened fuchsia and one of the most talked about shades from Playland collection along with Toying Around. It is medium pinkish red, though it leans more pink on me than red. Very wearable shade, both during daytime and night. It would suit every skin tone.
Texture:- My most favorite MAC Amplified. Creamy, luxurious, hydrating, soft, beautiful texture. It goes on very smooth, evenly and I don’t have to keep tugging on lips to get the color.
Pigmentation:- Pigmentation is amazing. One swipe and you get a pretty wearable fuchsia on lips, and more than one will give a bolder and brighter flush of the same color.
Staying power:- Another thing to love. I wore this yesterday morning. Wore it throughout the day, had a hell of a day shopping, movie, lunch, continuous blabbering. The color faded after 5-6 hours but the stain stayed evenly on lips even after that. It’s awesome. I had to use a makeup remover to remove the stain.
Summing up my Likes and Dislikes:-
What I like about MAC Red Balloon:-
- A beautiful, brilliant shade of fuchsia.
- Most emollient of all of the shades of Playland.
- Applies very smoothly and evenly.
- Left my lips feeling wonderfully hydrated.
- Light and comfortable on lips.
- Doesn’t bleed or smear.
- Doesn’t settle in lip lines.
- Gorgeously pigmented.
- Buildable color.
- Lasts more than 7-8 hours with ease.
What I don’t like about MAC Red Balloon:-
- The usual packaging.
Final Thoughts (Repurchase/Recommendation):- A visage-brightening fuchsia rose pink, it is infused with the brand’s signature vanilla fragrance, is gorgeously pigmented and has awesome texture, wears long and leaves a gorgeous stain that can only be properly removed with a cleanser.
Before the release, I was more interested in Toying Around, and even after the release, Toying Around was the one that made me drool, but once I applied this lippy, Ohh goshh..!! I fell in love with it. I never knew I could love a fuchsia lipstick so much. Very happy with my purchase.
DUPE ALERT:- Not exactly similar, but MAC Impassioned, MAC Moxie, MAC Lickable, MAC Girl About Town, Faces Go Chic Lipstick Flamboyant Fuchsia, Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick Raspberry, Revlon Colorburst Lipstick- Fuchsia, Revlon Fuchsia Shock come close to MAC Red Balloon.
