My face had become a breeding ground for pimples over the last one year. I usually don’t get bogged down by breakouts but this was an epidemic for my oily face. I have always had a pimple problem but then there have been periods when my face is clean & clear. But the last one year has been bad, real bad.
So I decided to splurge a little and try something new. I had heard a lot about Japanese skincare brand Shiseido which apparently is over 140 years old and I thought of giving it a try. I rushed to the nearest Parcos and bought this face wash.
The price is on the higher side at Rs. 1,600 for 100 ml.
Shiseido products are available at Shoppers Stop and Parcos. Both these places offer trial sized samples that will help you judge the product for your skin type well. I bought mine from Parcos and prefer buying from there as they give you free samples from a variety of brands including Elizabeth Arden, Guerlain, YSL, Sisley and many more. Also, I recently collected a night time moisturizer sample from Shiseido’s new range Ibuki from Shoppers Stop, Bandra Mumbai. Isn’t the sample bottle too cute?
Each application requires a dollop from the tube and this turns into a rich lather when rubbed into the face. The foam leaves a cooling effect on the skin for a few seconds after the wash which is because it contains menthol. It does not dry up or lead to patches on the skin and leaves the skin feeling hydrated. Other ingredients of this foam include peony root extract that is known to treat inflammation due to adverse skin reactions and rosemary extract, an antimicrobial. The product goes a long way, I have been using my tube for almost a month now and it is not even half finished.
Pureness is Shiseido’s oil control skincare range. Other products in the range include a foaming cleansing fluid, softener (toner), day time moisturizer, night time moisturizer – a gel cream, blemish control serum and the famous oil blotting paper. Products contain palo azul, a plant derived skin conditioner in addition to peony root and rosemary extract. I could not find salicylic acid mentioned as an ingredient which is a plus point as many people have allergic reactions to salicylic acid and it literally burns the skin slowly over time.
I use it twice a day – morning and at bed time along with the softner from the same range. The softener has its own benefits – it is alcohol free and increases the absorption of the moisturizer.
This face wash has visibly reduced my pimples and there has been minimal new growth. This works and one tube lasts for 2-3 months. On a value to cost basis this product gets rated high.
What I like about Shiseido Pureness Deep Cleansing Foam:
- Out of the many things I’ve tried since I discovered pimples on my face, this one simply put works! It really reduces pimples
- Contains well recognized natural ingredients, that are used widely used in medication
- Hydrates the skin and has a cooling effect for a short while which works wonders in this summer
- One tube lasts a long time
What I don’t like about Shiseido Pureness Deep Cleansing Foam:
- At 1,600 it is a bit costly
- Compared to other Shiseido products, the packaging of this one is quite unattractive
- Not easily available and not every Shoppers Stop houses this brand
- You are also prompted to buy the softener which is another Rs. 1,800 for 150 ml
This product it a 5/5 for me and oh yes, I will totally buy this again.
