Hello everyone! This is my first review for Wise She and I am SUPER excited to be here the body shop is one of my favourite brands and today’s review features one of their popular body butters: the Vanilla Bliss body butter! Let’s get straight into the review
Price and quantity: Rs 1295 for 200 ml
My take on The Body Shop Vanilla Bliss Body Butter:
The body butter comes in a tub-like packaging characteristic of all the TBS body butters which are colour coded according to the main ingredient. Vanilla Bliss comes in a pale yellow plastic tub with a screw on lid. The tub packaging does raise a few eyebrows but it’s quite sensible for a product such as this.
The body butter is a pale yellow cream – it is thicker than your usual moisturizing creams though. The consistency is actually quite like solid butter – it’s slightly difficult to spread but once you do, it gets absorbed into the skin quite fast. It does feel a tad heavy on the skin for about half an hour after applying – but it settles after that. It doesn’t feel greasy as such, atleast not more than it should. However, it’s definitely not a summer moisturiser. It’ll just feel uncomfortable on your skin for that half hour it takes to get settled – you’ll have to replace it with body purees or something lighter, that’s for sure.
Now let’s go to the fun part – the fragrance I’ve said so a million times: I’m a goner every time I step into a TBS store because EVERYTHING smells so darn good. This body butter is no exception. It has a conventional vanilla fragrance that makes it smell edible – I’m not kidding guys, it’s actual ‘vanilla bliss’ (see what I did there? ). And the fragrance does linger for a while after use – like for about 2-3 hours. Vanilla is a bit milder as a fragrance – I’m guessing the other body butter scents last a bit longer.
I used this all through winter last year every night right before bed and I loved going to sleep with the delicious vanilla fragrance all around me, and waking up to soft, hydrated skin. Oh and the best part? The tub is still three-fourths full. And I have dry skin! So you can imagine how long this will last!
What I like about The Body Shop Vanilla Bliss Body Butter:
- Very moisturizing
- Delicious fragrance
- One tub lasts a long time (probably 2-3 winters)
- Suitable for all skin types
What I don’t like about The Body Shop Vanilla Bliss Body Butter:
- The price!
- Tub packaging
- Too heavy to be used in summers
Final recommendation: The Body Shop Vanilla Bliss Body Butter is an excellent option for the winters but it’s too heavy to be used in the summer. Given the quantity, it’ll last you quite a while and since it does its job really well, I think the (obscenely) high price tag is justified! Plus the fragrance makes it a winner all round for me.
