Hey all beauty geeks!!! Do you remember that TV ad about a paint company? ‘Mera wala pink‘. These days I am going through a ‘Mera wala blue’ phenomena. I am dying to have a perfect cobalt blue in my collection – not a navy blue, or indigo or sky blue. It is so frustrating to find eyeshadows with the name ‘Cobalt’ not turnout anything like the cobalt color. Anyways, I picked up Black Radiance Loose Shimmer Shadow in Cobalt during this search.
Read on know that did it turn out to be ‘Mera wala blue’?
About Black Radiance Loose Shimmer Shadow:
Black Radiance is a cosmetics company targeted more towards deeper skin tones. It is a sister company of Wet N Wild. So, obviously they are also famous for their eyeshadows. The loose shimmer shadow is described as:
Price : $2.99
My take on Black Radiance Loose Shimmer Shadow in Cobalt:
Nope, this is not a ‘mera wala blue’. But, this is also not a bad blue either. The Black Radiance Loose Shimmer Shadow in Cobalt is a brighter blue, more like an aqua blue color. Perfect for springs and summers. The color looks really fresh and pretty on eyes. You can dust the shadow over your eyelids for a blue wash of color. Or apply a base underneath to get a more saturated color. There is no accompanying eyebrush, but any eyebrush will do. And there is no need to wet the brush as well. You can do that if you want a more intense effect. However, the color applies well even when it is dry.
But this is not an eyeshadow for busy days. The loose powder texture makes it very messy to use. I really need to be careful not to topple the jar or apply more than the required eyeshadow. Otherwise, my vanity and my face would be a mess, respectively.
Texture: The eyeshadow is a loose powdered shadow. The texture is very smooth and finely milled, something like a good quality gulal on holi. It does not have very prominent shimmers, as the name implied. In fact, the shadow is not at all shimmery. It has a more pearl finish. There is a fallout while applying the eyeshadow but it is expected of a loose shadow.
Pigmentation: The Black Radiance Loose Shimmer Shadow in Cobalt has a sheer pigmentation when applied on its own. However, the color becomes more intense and saturated on a base. I have used a white base in the hand swatches to get a brighter and pigmented color.
Staying Power: The shadow needs a base for a good color payoff. So, the staying power depends upon the base as well. However, without a base, it lasts for about 3-4 hours. It does not crease on a good base.
Packaging: The eyeshadow comes in small eyeshadow jar with a guard cover. The jar is sturdy for travelling. You need to open the cap and the cover to get the eyeshadow out. This makes the whole application a little messy.
What I like about Black Radiance Loose Shimmer Shadow in Cobalt:
- Bright shade of blue.
- Smooth and fine powder.
- Buildable pigmentation.
- Easily blendable.
- Decent staying power.
- Applies evenly.
- Sturdy packaging.
What I do not like about Black Radiance Loose Shimmer Shadow in Cobalt:
- Messy to use.
- Time consuming application.
- Needs a base for good color payoff.
- Unavailability in India.
Black Radiance Loose Shimmer Shadow in Cobalt is a very summery shade of blue. The application is little time consuming and messy though. I would prefer the same shade in the pressed form. If you are comfortable with loose eyeshadows and looking for a bright blue color for eyes, you should definitely give this a try.
