DIY – Avocado Masque For Smooth And Shine Hair
Today I bring to you all a beautiful treat for your hair. I love DIYs. When I was at my home, I would try many natural alternatives to commercial products but after coming to Chennai and staying in a PG, I get little time and space to try the DIYs. Nevertheless, I am always on the lookout of quick DIYs for hair and skin which actually show results in a short span of time. AND I like to name my DIYs with pretty names, keep in pretty bottles, to get a spa like feeling
And here I go.
Product: Avocado smooth and shine masque with mint
Best for: Dry and damaged hair but suitable for all hair types
Ingredients (in decreasing order of things used): 100 % Avocado puree, lemon juice, almond oil, peppermint essential oil
How to prepare Avocado Hair Masque:
Take one whole avocado, remove the seed, peel the skin, and puree it.
Then add 2 spoons lemon juice, 1 spoon almond oil and finally 4-5 drops of peppermint essential oil.
Mix all together nicely with water as required to get a semi paste like consistency.
Benefits of Avocado for Hair:
Avocado is known for its amazing smoothening property when used on hair and skin. It also provides fantastic shine to your hair. Lemon juice will clarify your tresses and the sweet almond oil will nourish your hair. Your scalp will tingle with the mint essential oil. A perfect getaway for your tresses. Use twice a week for best results.
How to use:
Apply all over hair and roots liberally and keep for 45 minutes to 60 minutes. Then wash off with a mild shampoo.
How did the Avocado Hair Masque fared on me:
Ok, so now you all know how to make this masque and what it claims to do
Let me tell you about my hair a little. A little because, my hair woes are never ending I used to have a good head of medium thick, long, wavy and dark brown hair. My present hair is thin and sparse. I had chopped off my long tresses and they are now just below the shoulders, not growing at all. I am facing very severe hair loss majorly due to PCOD and Chennai water.
I have stopped using shampoo, conditioner and serum long ago like 2 years. My hair is improving somewhat but still a long way to go. I always wanted to try avocado as I had read so much about it. Here in Chennai people call it as “butter fruit”. My colleagues love the butter fruit juice and this particular juice is the most expensive in most juice shops here.
I made this masque without burning a hole in my pocket and it delivers instant results. You gotta try to see the results. I use it twice a week and I don’t oil my hair prior to applying this masque. One problem with the masque is after you wash your hair, the fruit somewhat sticks to the hair but after the hair is completely dry, the particles can be combed off.
When I used it first, I noticed my hair felt very soft and smooth with a very nice shine. I could actually see my hair shining. I washed off the masque with an organic shampoo bar and basic ACV rinse. That’s all. I have been using this masque for over a period of 2 months twice a week. The peppermint smell is just so refreshing .The texture of my hair has improved somewhat with less frizz. I don’t have to use too many things to whip up this mask. It is very simple to make with just 4 ingredients and it is definitely better than store brought hair masks which list avocado towards the end and market the product solely on the shoulders of Avocado’s benefits.
Try and tell me.
Hope you all liked this DIY.
