5 Honey Masks For Dry & Damaged Hair
Shiny and healthy hair tend to be one of the most cherished thing for a woman which increases her beauty quotient to several notches. The sight of dry & damaged hair strands surely doesn’t look pleasing to anyone be it the woman herself. Well, the increasing humidity, pollution, dust and sunlight tends to cause the hair texture to turn dry and frizzy. Further the use of styling appliances on hair like dryers, curlers or straighteners also damage the hair strands badly. There are obviously many high end brands which offer hydrating and damage protecting hair masks but that come with a price tag and also the fact that they are mainly chemicals which work up in improving the hair texture.
So, this post is for all those who don’t want to use chemical compositions on the hair and want to naturally treat their hair with the help of various kitchen supplies which can be employed for a damage protecting hair treatment.
Here I will be sharing hair masks with the main ingredient honey as honey is great for overall health along with the skin and hair due to its moisturizing property.
Honey & Egg Hair Mask-
- 3 tbsp Organic Honey
- 2-3 eggs Egg
Mix both the ingredients together to make a smooth viscous mixture and along with a hair brush apply it on the hair strands with the help of a wide toothed comb. Let the this mask stay put on the hair for about 30 minutes. After that rinse it off with normal tap water and clean your hair with a mild herbal shampoo, also to get rid of the egg smell from hair. Skip conditioning and let the hair dry naturally. You will immediately see the results as your hair feel much smoother post drying.
Thick Yoghurt & Honey Mask-
- 4 tbsp Yoghurt
- 3-4 tbsp Raw organic honey
- 1-2 tsp Lemon Juice
This is my most preferred hair masks as I have dry and course hair which tend to behave badly during winters so I use it to soften my hair strands. The mask is quite easy to prepare and you need thick curd and organic honey for this. Mix both the ingredients together and beat them thoroughly. Add a few drops of lemon juice in the mixture. Apply it on well combed hair and let the mixture penetrate deeply on the scalp and the tips. Wash with normal water and use a gentle hair cleanser to get rid of the residue of the yoghurt.
Honey, Olive oil & Milk Cream-
- 3-4 tbsp Organic Honey
- 2-3 tsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp Milk Cream
This hair mask is for course hair which look really dry and damaged. Mix the honey and oil first and then add thick milk cream to the mask and apply it on the hair by partitioning the hair so that the mask penetrates the scalp and intensively moisturizes the hail follicles. This mask should be ideally kept for 30 minutes and after then rinse it off under normal tap water. Wash the excess oil by a gentle shampoo. You will certainly notice that the hair texture has changed a bit after the first wash itself. Repeat it after every 15 days and you will vouch for this hair mask for life.
Honey & Banana Hair Mask-
- 3-4 tbsp Organic Honey
- 1 Ripe Banana
Usually I like eating banana but when I tend to forget sometimes, I see that the banana has ripened to a level which is no more fit to be consumed so I use it as my hair mask. Although, I get a dose of scolding for not eating fruits but I tell my family that am not wasting it at least!!
Mix the banana and honey together to form a smooth paste. Take a hand blender to make a smooth mixture as mashing it with a spoon will not turn it into a smooth mixture. Apply this mask on the hair strands and leave like that for at least 15-20 minutes. Wash it off and use a gentle hair shampoo. You will see that your hair is ultra soft and that you can’t help running your fingers through it.
Honey & Coconut Oil Mask-
- 4 tbsp Organic Honey
- 2 tsp Coconut oil
This is more of a nourishing mask for the deep conditioning treatment of the damaged hair strands. The moisturizing property of honey makes the hair touchable soft and smooth. And the intensive conditioning provided by coconut oil keeps the hair follicles nourished and prevent them from drying.
Well, these were few of the hair mask with honey as an essential ingredient. I hope you pick up your individual choice of DIY hair mask with honey!
