It is always a heartbreak when you have a bad product to work with.
Well, Rimmel London ScandalEyes Shadow Paint in shade VELVET BLACK is a similar heartbreak case, though I have had a good experience with the other two shades from this range.
How bad did this product fare? Read on to know:

My experience with Rimmel London ScandalEyes Shadow Paint Velvet Black :
Packaging: This eyeshadow comes in a elongated transparent slim bottle and has a black colored cap which has the sponge applicator attached. The cap screw opens and shuts firmly leaving no scope for any leakage, thereby making the product easy to be carried in bags.
Texture: This eye shadow paint has a creamy texture and the shimmers in it make it a little chunky which I do not like at all.
Applicator: The applicator is very decent and does its job very precisely. I personally feel that there is no other way to get the product on your lids other than this doe foot sponge applicator and thankfully the applicator works nicely and picks up just the required amount of the product.
Shade: It is an intense black eye shadow paint which has similar black-silver minute shimmers.
Pigmentation: Unlike other shades from this range, this shade was a disappointment. Though it is an intense black color but the pigmentation is something where it lacks. You cannot do with this eyeshadow without multiple swipes.
My Take: The shade, Velvet Black is absolutely apt for those who love deep smokey eyes.
This is shade was disappointment for me. Though it is an intense black eye shadow paint but the poor pigmentation and gritty texture ruined my experience. These eye shadow paints should not actually be layered as they tend to develop an artificial layer on lids which flakes if you ever layer the products.
But without layering the color does not show up well on lids and looks messy.
Another thing that makes it even harder to use it is the fact that if you avoid layering it and try getting a thin blended look, then you cannot blend it since it dries off way to quickly leaving no scope to do anything.
What I Like About Rimmel London ScandalEyes Shadow Paint Velvet Black :
- Intense Black shade.
- Compact packaging.
What I Don’t Like About Rimmel London ScandalEyes Shadow Paint Velvet Black :
- Gritty- creamy texture.
- Poor pigmentation.
- Hard to use when layered, feels heavy on lids.
- Cannot blend, dries off very quickly.
Will I recommend: Not at all, what is the use of a product which is only good to look when in bottle.
P.S. – No EOTD, because there was no way possible to make a proper EOTD with this eye shadow paint.
