I am back with another review and this time its Benefit Cosmetics.
I went to Sephora Delhi and since I never miss the Benefit counter, I was going through their products. My eyes met ‘That Gal’ face primer and I was quite intrigued by the name…Primer? huh ok! but Brightening?? I tried the tester and immediately fell in love! The moment SA told me they were out of stock, I sulked L but he was there with another option. I was shown some affordable (comparatively) kits which contained travel size packaging of various products and these kits were quite useful in testing products before buying full size or even for gifting. I picked up the ‘Do the Bright Thing’ kit which had a travel size That Gal Primer, Dandelion face powder with mini brush, a travel sized They’re Real Mascara, Waterproof Black Kohl mini and a High Beam Highlighter mini.

My experience with Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer:
Starting with the packaging, mine came in a tiny tube of 7.5 ml. The full tube is a twist up packaging. You need to twist it up so that the primer is distributed on the top. The mini version which I have is quite travel-friendly and I do take it anywhere I go.
Coming to the texture, it is a pastel pink coloured primer which is neither too runny nor very thick. The texture is adequate so that it blends effortlessly. I apply it under my foundation or even just above my moisturizer on days when I am too lazy to do makeup. It doesn’t feel cakey or heavy. For my dry skin, I really love the texture. Be it winter or summer, it feels like second skin.
The shade, though being pink, doesn’t give any colour to the skin. It just gives a ‘my skin but better’ glow and can be worn alone too. It contains minute shimmer which cannot be felt but helps in imparting shine and healthy glow to the skin.
On our Indian skin tone, one needs to be careful not to apply too much as then it can definitely look pink and gives a white cast all over the face (which of course looks horrible). I had a bad experience once when I applied way too much product under my foundation and looked cakey throughout the evening. It never ‘settled’ and my face had this ghostly appearance. Bad! So, you need to be careful with the quantity applied which is a good point for me as it means it will last me for long!
The primer does help in prolonging the wear time of the foundation which stays put for 7+ hours without budging! When worn alone, I had the ‘glow’ on my face throughout the day which again was 7+ hours.
I used to find the full size packaging expensive but after using the mini version, I am definitely buying the full size as it is worth the money and hype.
If you get a chance to lay your hands on it, don’t think….just buy. You won’t regret it!
