Coastal Scents Hot Pot M12 Aqua
Today I‘ll be reviewing a minty blue eye shadow from Coastal Scents. It’s Hot Pot M12 in Aqua.
About Coastal Scents Hot Pot:
We offer Blush Hot Pots labeled with the letter B and our eye shadows in different finishes identified by the following letters: Matte (M) and Satin/Shimmer (S). You may also select shades from our Creative Me #1 Palette labeled CM and our Metal Mania and Creative Me #2 Palettes labeled ME.
My experience with Coastal Scents Hot Pot M12 Aqua:
Packaging: The eye shadow pan is housed in a sturdy plastic case with a scissor lock. The plastic case keeps the pan safe and protects the product inside from any sort of damages. The shade number is written at base.
Shade: Add a splash of creamy, pastel blue to your eyes with a matte finish. On me it is an aqua-green with subtle cool undertones. A pretty cool shade, a super fun color without being too over the top. It can be used alone or combined with other shades as well. I blend it with a darker blue or a highlighter. Sometimes I love to pair it with a totally contrasting shade as well.
Texture: It comes from their Matte range and there are very few brands who can make such gorgeous textures in matte finishes. The color does feel smooth on the pan but when you try to apply on lids, it feels chalky. Blending is a problem too.
Pigmentation: This eye shadow is a little on the sheer side when used without a primer, but it shows on lids, a primer beneath works better. The shade is buildable and thus can be intensified as per choice. But you have to pat the pigments, if you try to blend, they’ll vanish from your lids.
Staying power: The staying power is not that great either. It stayed intact on me for 2-3 hours. With a primer or cream base however it stays long.
Summing up my likes and Dislikes:-
What I like about Coastal Scents Hot Pot M12 in Aqua:
- Pretty shade.
- Matte finish.
- Feels chalky.
- Cute packaging.
- Dirt Cheap.
- Pick up your own colors and customise your palette.
What I don’t like about Coastal Scents Hot Pot M12 in Aqua:
- The pigments vanish when you try to blend.
- Poor staying power.
- Availability in India.
This gorgeous shade is a dupe of MAC Aqua eye shadow. But MAC Aqua has a better texture, better pigmentation and staying power.
Final thoughts: I love the color, but the texture, pigmentation upset me. What will you do with an eye shadow that can’t be blended properly?
