My experience with Lakme Absolute Matte Lipcolor Apricot Rush:
It comes in the dark grey color packaging which you must have seen by now. Mine shows how badly it is used with the rubbed off fonts on the cover. It is just a decent packaging, nothing attractive or pleasing about it. The only good point is that it is sturdy and the bullet doesn’t get damaged even if the lipstick falls.
The shade is a pretty mixture of peach and light brown. Nude lovers only know what it means to have a matte lipstick in this tone of shade. If I would have created my own nude lip color in non-pink tones I would have created exactly this shade. This would suit anyone and everyone irrespective of how light or dark your complexion is. Refer to the swatch on the hand for the exact shade; on my lips it appears to be lighter than the actual shade because of natural light. You can build up the color to some extent by layering on. Layering is like a ritual while putting up nude shades.
It has a beautiful comfortable matte texture. It does not dry the lips in any way but the lip color does settle in the fine lines. Those who have a lot of fine lines on their lips might reconsider the idea of buying this lipstick. Otherwise if drying is your only issue with matte lipsticks, then be assured you’ll not have any with this one.
It has a slight citrus fragrance but that is not bothersome.
The staying power is pretty good too. It stays on for up to 5 hours with mindful eating. If you are gorging on big rolls, ice cream or anything that requires you to purse your lips on the food item, then you’ll end up with no lipstick on your lips at all. It is not like those stick on matte lipsticks which stay on no matter what. So, this has a decent staying power. Those of you who want lip colors with longer staying power should try Faces Prolongwear Matte Lipcolor range. It has a similar shade as far as I remember with longer staying power.
Overall, the shade is gorgeous with a beautiful matte texture and nominal price range. Nude lovers should definitely own this if you haven’t got much of fine lines issue.
What I like about Lakme Absolute Matte Lipcolor Apricot Rush:
- The gorgeous nude shade with tones of peach and brown. It would look gorgeous with dark smoky eye makeup or while going for a minimalist look.
- You can build the shade without making it look patchy.
- It has a decent staying power.
- It does not dry out the lips like some other matte lip colors.
- It has no bothersome smell issue.
- Decent price range. (Cosmetics these days are digging our pockets otherwise!)
What I do not like about Lakme Absolute Matte Lipcolor Apricot Rush:
- It settles in fine lines.
- Nothing great about the packaging; mine looks like a stolen piece of tester lipstick now.
Until next time, take care!
