10 Best Of Drugstore Lipstick Collection By Ritika
Hello lovely ladies,
How are you all?
As you all must know how much I adore lipsticks. Lipsticks rank first in my makeup love and me without any lip makeup makes me feel sick. I have medium to fair warm skin tone and have a special liking towards reds and pinks. Shades of wine and berry do not interest me much but bright coral shades have made their cut to my favorites apart from the pinks and reds. This in itself has clarified enough that what kind of shades this favorites’ compilation shall have.
Sadly there is no MAC or Bobbi Brown in my city, so I have not got much of them to try, but have really tried lots of drugstore brands. Infact here on wiseshe I got an opportunity to review three full collections of lipsticks, you can check them here, here and here.
Read on to know my favorites lipsticks from drugstore brands.
To start with I have chosen a summery shade. Pure Fire is a bright orange shade with red undertones. The shade is very well suited for summers and springs. The shade is very vibrant and will flatter fair to medium complexions, I do not think that very deep skin tones will be able to pull off this shade effortlessly. Its matte finish with a great staying power of 5-6 hours gives me more reasons to like it.
It is a cool toned bubble gum pink shade with semi sheer color pay off. I quite like the shade and this will flatter light to medium skin tones. Though the color is not for your dull face’s day, but for any pink lover, this light pink shade might get a place in your stash. The lipstick has a very soft, creamy and smooth texture.
This is a gorgeous peachy pink shade with micro shimmers in it. Although I am not a huge fan of shimmers, but this lipstick has been an exception. It has a very smooth & moisturizing texture and gives a glossy wet look to lips. The packaging that this lippy comes in is very adorable and when you form packaging to the shade, you are completely bowled, at least this happens in my case. However the lipsticks do not have a great pigmentation and staying power, but the shade is something that keeps me hooked onto this and make me love it every time I use it.
Peach blush is a peachy pink shade which looks very natural. It has a soft creamy texture and glides on lips very smoothly without any tugging. It is purely matte but never dries out lips. This particular shade may not look very flattering on duskier complexion but will look nice on medium to fair skin tones. This is a nice daily wear lippy.
Pure Rouge is a gorgeous blue based Red shade. This is best red shade to brighten up your face and will flatter all Indian skin tones. This shade is the most popular shade from the Star Collection by Loreal and is endorsed by Frieda Pinto. This is that kind of red which can never get you wrong and it matte finish gives that sophisticate oomph to the lips.
The name of the shade looked a little misleading; I find the shade of this lippy like a blend of brown and red which yields in a beautiful brick color, not burgundy in any way. The lipstick has got the perfect texture, awesome color pay off. It also has a good staying power of 4 hours. This lipstick is very great considering its price and I actually have recommended it as a must buy.
It is a beautiful bold Red color with blue undertones. It is nicely pigmented with no shimmers; one swipe gives me a little less than opaque coverage. The lipstick gives a fabulous glossy shine and later the shine vanishes, but the beauty of the shade stays as it is. It has a good staying power too.
Pure Brick is a fabulous red toned brick shade. It is a subtle toned down red which is great for the days when you are in no mood to make a bold statement. This shade is endorsed by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Pure Brick will flatter all Indian skin tones very well. This shade can actually be worn at work place too. It has a commendable staying power and I love this shade to the core.
This is a gorgeous shade of pink which has red hues to it. The lipstick has a very soft, creamy and smooth texture. This shade is sans any shimmer and has a lovely glossy finish; Nothing overly glossy, just apt for a creamy lipstick. It leaves behind a subtle stain after fading off. This is one of the fastest moving shades from the Maybelline Colorshow collection. I purchased this particular shade four times, of course not all for me. One for my neighbor, one for my sister, one for me and one for my aunt, and not all at a single time. I purchased this shade four times and all from different places because this particular shade was out of stock on most counters and even on retail counters. This explains really well, how good this shade is.
Well this is not a lipstick but is a lip gloss instead, but since this posts talks about my favorites, I certainly had to include this here. Initially when I bought this, I got it simply for the sake of having a nude lip shade, but gradually I began to like it and after I reviewed it, this gloss made it to my favorite list. Apricot Shine is a peachy nude shade with very fine golden shimmer. Despite of being a gloss it is more on a creamy side, more like a lip crème actually. It is non sticky and is not very heavy on lips. It has a good color pay off. A single swipe easily covers every bit of lip pigmentation. This really looks nice with heavy kohled eyes or smokey eye looks.
These were my top ten favorite lipsticks. These shades suit my skin tone well and d not make my face look dull or washed off. If my favorite lipstick collection as a whole is to be asked, then it is the Loreal Star Red Collection, it has fabulous shades to flatter my skin. For my skin tone, I rarely follow the blue or yellow undertone rule while choosing shades, because I have found that at times blue toned lippies like fuchsia or blue toned red looks great on my warm toned medium to fair skin. A rule that I follow is to always try a lipstick before purchasing it and this is why I rarely involve in online lipstick shopping.
Which among these lipstick is your favorite?
