Is It Okay To Use 2 in 1 Shampoo And Conditioner And Then Use A Separate Conditioner
I guess all of you have heard about the 2 in 1 shampoos and conditioners that are seen in the markets. A 2-in-1 shampoo is a shampoo that can both cleanse and condition your hair. A bottle of 2-in-1 shampoo has both cleansing and conditioning properties. It is an innovation that was made possible during the 1980s and has been adapted by brands worldwide.
So today we’ll be discussing if it is okay to use 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner and then use a separate conditioner.
I’ll start with what I feel about this kind of 2 in 1 shampoos and conditioners:
I love the fact that brands are coming up with different ideas, but I personally feel, this 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner is just a marketing gimmick and noting else. I know that combining oil-removing cleansers and oil-based nourishing conditioners together is really an interesting thing and the process must have been really tough. But the concept makes no sense, because the shampoo cleans away the conditioner, quiet natural isn’t? Moreover there are many 2 in 1 shampoos and conditioners which are just mild forms of shampoos that don’t even clean your hair well and doesn’t condition well.
Dr. Kristine Schmalenberg, associate manager of Medical Clinical Affairs for Johnson & Johnson Family of Consumer Companies, Inc says, “There’s only so much you can do in a 2-in-1 shampoo because most of the conditioners are cationic, meaning they have a positive charge, but most of the surfactants [detergents] in shampoos are anionic, meaning they have a negative charge. So they don’t like each other!”
Most of the brands claim that these are meant for men or for women with very short hair. But in my opinion, it doesn’t matter if your hair is long or short, it stills needs conditioning. Many go for the 2 in 1 products because they feel the separate conditioners make their hair oilier. If your hair gets too oily after using a conditioner, then you are probably using the wrong type of conditioner for your hair. There is a conditioner for everyone. Use a light conditioner, and also you don’t need to use a lot, just a blob should be enough. And also make sure you don’t apply conditioner on your scalp.
Thus I think even if you use a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner, you should definitely use a separate conditioner afterwards. There is nothing better than a good conditioner. Use a separate conditioner and leave for a while and that way the conditioner will make for a good deep conditioning that will leave your hair very soft and shiny.
