10 Things To Do Other Than Facebooking
How have you all been? It’s so hot here in Delhi, that most of the time I feel like staying indoors and doing nothing, just nothing. And what good can come from an idle mind, with a smart phone and loads of idle time on hand? Yes, you got it right—facebooking, loads and heap loads of it.
But there comes a time when we start unveiling the ever so slightly veiled bragging, confessions—almost on the verge of being fake and the non-sensical satires. Then what?
I say quit the internet—no, not entirely give up on your holy-grail means of entertainment; just learn to take control over your internet habits, and not vice-versa. Here are a few things which you can do instead of indulging in the monotony of like-share-comment.
Write a hand-written letter
Gone are the days when hand-written letters were almost a daily-ritual, and the gloomy days of instant messaging has taken its place. Sad but true. But that does not mean that for once you can quit texting and sit-down to write a few lines which have delved from the depths of your heart. You can never realize the warmth that a couple snuggly knit-up words enclosed in a scented envelope has, till the time you yourself indulge in one. Write one for your loved ones and share the warmth. It will make both, you and the receiver, happy beyond limits.
Get a relaxing massage
Ok, so do we need any reason o indulge in a relaxing spa and massage? If you have that extra cash, go book a room at a specialized spa centre and go for a spa treatment which may be you have never experienced before. And no worries even if you are low on cash, there are some really bombastic massage parlors in your very own neighborhood which offer stunning massages at rock-drop prices. Go enjoy!
Volunteer for an animal shelter
What better way to spend time than caring for these meek babies which cannot even mouth their problems. And, they do have a lot of them. I know it can be intriguing to make a long-lasting commitment of adopting a pet, but sparing a few hours to look after those cute puppies, kittens or even rabbits, and playing with them is not that demanding. Isn’t it? Plus, they are a great stress buster. Give it a shot at least once in your lifetime.
Read that book you always wanted to read
Ok, so we all have that one book lying at the back of our book shelf; even I do, despite of being a literature fanatic. Maybe it is the latest chetan bhagat, or a bit more serious literature novel like Shakespeare or anyone else; just grab hold of it and start flipping through it. Now is the time.
Visit a flea market
I DO NOT need any excuse to shop, and if I get to shop at a flea market and grab hold of hidden treasures at a quarter of a price; all the more better. Try and find out the flea market in your vicinity and make it a point to go visit it. You can find loads of budget bargains, and the best part, you’ll save on up so much of money. Win, win!!
Yoga has always been on my priority since the time I have promised to adopt a healthier lifestyle. In times like today, stress is something which is a common-place phenomenon; and I have till date, not found any better way to bust off stress than to meditate. Try meditating at least once a week, cut off all exterior noises and try taking a control over your breath. It will take time, but once you get the hang of it, trust me it would be the best thing you would have experienced. Bliss!
Clean up your work-desk or bedside drawers
We all have that one drawer which always remains cluttered up; or if you are anything remotely close to me, that drawer would be your own work-desk or bed side drawer—the cabinets which you often the most regularly. For once just take out the time to sort out your goods and clean up that messy drawer. The final look would be orgasmic, totally!
Pre-plan a set of 5 complete outfits
We all have wasted hours and hours of worrying about what to wear on a daily basis; I plead guilty. What better way to pass time than to stand in front of your closet on a free day and plan out 5 complete (from head-to-toe0 outfits and hang them in your closet. This way each morning we save time by not having to worry about what to wear, and we have well thought-after outfits to rock. Wouldn’t that be amazing?
Call up a friend
Has it ever happened to you, that you get a call from your friend, and looking on your phone screen you wonder if that call was dialed by mistake? Why things have became so dubious these days? People have just stopped connecting to each other, and I believe the main culprit to be the age of internet. It has started swallowing up emotions. Let internet not happen this to you, dial up your favorite person’s number; your husband, your partner, your friend, your sister, father, mother, practically anyone who you care for, and tell them how much you love them.
Go on breakfast dates
All of us have gone on way-too-many dates, but I am not talking about main-stream dates. Go on a date with your soul-mate, or a group of friends, or even just by yourself—but the deal is to go on a breakfast date. So many cafes and hotels offer luxuriously laid down breakfasts these days. You’ll wake up to something to look forward to, plus you will have something to remember for the rest of the day. Love yourself!
