The source of mildly fragrant vanilla oil is the seed pods of a Central American orchid. Fresh vanilla pods have no scent and it involves a long, labor-intensive process to extract the aromatic essential oil. Vanilla is indigenous to Central America and Mexico, but has been widely grown in the subtropics of Asia, Northern Europe, and Canada. Madagascar is the largest producer of vanilla in the world. Despite of the fact that Vanilla is popularly used in cooking & edibles, Vanilla essential oil is stronger than vanilla extract and is not appropriate for cooking.

Uses Of Vanilla Essential Oil
To Make Body Care Products
Vanilla Essential Oil has a, sweet & indulgent scent. When you make your own hand lotion, Vanilla Essential Oil can be used to provide a fabulous aroma. For aromatic lotions or body butters, it is advised to use 30-40 drops of vanilla essential oil per 100ml of base product. Begin with lesser amount of drops and then increase if required.
For Baby Care
Essential Oils are often too harsh to be used on baby’s delicate skin; However Vanilla is a very gentle Essential oil and is safe for babies. Use vanilla essential oil in diluted form, and its calming properties will help to soothe an annoyed infant. It is advised to use 10 drops of pure Vanilla essential oil into 8 teaspoons of carrier oil, for babies’ massages. Jojoba oil is an excellent carrier. For adults, mix 20-30 drops of Essential Oil into 8 teaspoons of carrier oil.
To Get Rid Of Acne
Vanilla Essential Oil has natural antibacterial properties, thereby making it useful in getting rid of acne. Dilute 20-30 drops of vanilla essential oil into a Hydrosol and using it as a toner. It can also be added to face washes, and oil-free face lotions as well.
To Soften & Strengthen Hair
Mix 100ml of melted Shea Butter with 2 tablespoons of Almond oil and 2 tablespoons of Jojoba oil. Add 15-20 drops of Vanilla Essential Oil to this mixture and allow it to cool. Now rub it into the ends of your hair and scalp. Leave the mixture on for 15-20 minutes, and then rinse it out with a mild shampoo. Regular usage of this will help in improving hair condition.
To Combat Stress & Anxiety
Vanilla also has therapeutic benefits. It has the ability to reduce stress and anxiety. Rub 2-3 drops of the oil into the palms of your hand, and inhale to reduce stress & anxiety.
To Improve Digestion
When suffering from indigestion or an upset stomach, add 2-3 drops of Vanilla to some honey added tea and consume it. You can also consume vanilla oil with a glass of water.
To Treat Sore Throat
The mild anesthetic properties of vanilla can help to relieve pain from a sore throat or headache.
To Reverse Aging
Vanilla is rich in antioxidants that aid in preventing and reversing skin damage caused by free radicals. It helps to slow down signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. It is widely used in the cosmetic industry for its fragrance and anti-aging benefits.
To Soothe Burns
Vanilla has been traditional used as a remedy to heal burns, wounds and cuts. However concentrated vanilla essential oil should not be applied directly on recent burns and it is always advised to use it in diluted form. Topical treatments containing vanilla extracts too are helpful.
