Best Beauty And Makeup Trends That Ruled The 90’s
The 90’s was the time of experimentation and looking rave. The beauties then, are still style icons and people follow their style statements till date though with some refinements. During the 90’s there were many trends that were unique to the period and are still talked about, while there were styles which began then but are still part of our lives today. We see them being followed day in and day out. Don’t believe me? Look for yourself.
Skinny thin eyebrows
One of the major trends was to have very sleek eyebrows and it suddenly was the norm of the day for every woman you would find. Though let me assert there were still quite a few, rather only a specific age group of women who would go to a salon and so, it was in fact easier to recognize who goes to a salon through these eyebrow shapes.
Blue Eye shadow
Another trend was the blue eye shadow. Suddenly across the globe, blue was the color to be found on eyes of women. Blue colored eyes are not something unusual today but at that time, it was a new and innovative idea to color eyes blue from above.
Though it came into picture in the 80’s itself it would be fair to call them a trend of the 90’s. It was well accepted by then and women across ages were seen sporting them which made it a hot and happening style of the 90’s women.
Streaking or highlighting; now a normal feature began well back in 90’s. As I already told you in the beginning, you would be amazed to know what began when and how we are following it till today. Streaks as they were called back then, became a global rage when people like Geri Halliwell and Julia Stiles from Hollywood got it done and was followed by many Indian celebrities also.
Metallic and Matte Lipsticks
Colors like dusky browns, pinks and berries were the lipstick choices women made during the period. Shiny metallic lipsticks were the famous style of the 90’s as sported by many celebrities like Sri Devi, Madhuri Dixit in their movies.
Eyes all jeweled up
Using beads and jewels around the corner of the eyes was a nice trend during the period which people loved and followed thanks to Bollywood styling.
Use of excessive hair accessories began in 90’s and was on its top peak during the period. Women across ages were now seen sporting it at various social events. Even movie stars wore it with style to increase the craze for them.
Yes! It all began then and we are using it now as well. It is amazing how fashion keeps doing this to and fro and we are always going back to the same trends all over again.
Short haircuts and colored hair
The cuts like pixie cut or Rachel cut, began an overnight style in 90’s with women thronging to get these done. Red colored hair also became a style statement at length for women across the globe.
So you agree now? Fashion and style statements keep on going and coming back to us with equal vigor and we always tend to follow them time and again. I am sure you can now say makeup and fashion are immortal.
