Happy New Year u guys!!
Hope 2016 brings good health & happiness and makes you a beautiful person inside-out Am sure a lot of u have armed yourself with a list of resolutions. I too have mine, but it’s just that I don’t wait for a whole new year to write my list. I make a new one every now and then, sometimes like every week. Coz nobody is perfect, right? Anyways, here goes my first review of this brand new year…
About L’Oreal Revitalift Laser x3 Renewing Anti-Aging Serum
The 1st renewing anti-aging serum from L’Oreal Paris inspired by dermatological procedures, conceived with a triple action to improve skin quality. Highly concentrated actives for dramatic skin transformation. Reduces pores and wrinkles, renews skin.
Price: INR 1525
Shelf life: 3 years from mfg date. To be used within 12 months after opening
Packaging: It comes in a dark burnt-red colored, glass bottle with a clear square cap. The packaging looks and feels luxurious. It comes with a gun-metal colored, plastic pump dispenser that efficiently delivers the right amount of serum. The bottle is pretty small and will easily fit into small pouches but the glass bottle needs to be handled with care since it is pretty heavy and also quite slippery to hold.
Fragrance: This has a heady, floral scent that’s smells like some expensive perfume. I do have a picky nose but I happen to love this scent since it smells really good and is a nice pick-me-up every time I use it. The fragrance may seem a bit potent at first but it mellows down in a few minutes and does not linger for too long. But if you like unscented products or have a very sensitive nose, you may want to sniff this at a store to make sure you’re okay with the scent since it is a tad strong.
Color & Consistency: The serum is pale yellow in color and has a light, gel-like consistency. It is really lightweight and spreads easily.
My Experience with L’Oreal Revitalift Laser x3 Renewing Anti-Aging Serum
The serum blends like a dream and feels weightless. But on my oily skin it refused to sink in completely. It would form a tacky, slippery layer and simply sit on top of my skin making me look greasy and shiny. I tried using very little and blending well but I found that I could never use this alone. It seemed almost mandatory to use a powder or mattifying cream over this. I was willing to bear with the grease-factor if this did “resurface, replump and renew” my skin as claimed. But frankly, I saw absolutely no change. Nothing! It didn’t make my skin plump, didn’t fade blemishes, didn’t provide a glow, or anything at all worth mentioning. When I used this under makeup, my base would slip and slide off my face within a few hours. So I decided to use this as a night treatment and slept with this on. In the morning my face looked like I’d dunked it in a vat of oil! I do have to mention that it was summertime when I was using this and the combination of this serum and the hot, humid weather just did not seem to work.
After using this for a couple of months (there was still sooo much product left in the bottle!) I gave it to my granny. She, on the other hand, absolutely loved it. It hydrated her mature skin nicely and did not make her face greasy at all. I’m disappointed it didn’t work for me since I had read many positive reviews of this product. But I soon realized that the majority of people who raved about this had used this serum in conjunction with the Day Cream from the same range. But I don’t think I’ll be investing in another product from this range since I feel it is simply not meant for my skin type.
What I like about L’Oreal Revitalift Laser x3 Renewing Anti-Aging Serum?
- Attractive, compact and hygienic packaging
- Smells lovely
- Blends easily
- Hydrates and plumps dry and/or mature skin
- Does not cause breakouts
- Does not irritate or sting sensitive skin
- Works well when used in combination with the day cream from this range
- One bottle lasts really long since you need less than a pea-sized amount for the whole face
What I don’t like about L’Oreal Revitalift Laser x3 Renewing Anti-Aging Serum?
- Not meant for very oily skin
- Feels heavy in hot and humid weather (on oily skin)
- Glass bottle is slippery and needs to be handled with care
Rating: Not sure if it would be fair to rate this since this was the wrong choice for my skin type. But if I had to rate its effect based on my personal experience, I’d give this a 2/5 since it did nothing for my skin and comes with a hefty price tag.
But for mature skin, I’d give this 4/5
This serum (the name is such a mouthful) is best suited for dry or mature skin, and for combination skin in winters. On oily skin, this refuses to sink in completely and ends up making skin more oily and dull-looking. While it did not irritate my sensitive, acne-prone skin, it did not do any good either. This is also a no-no for very hot and humid weather. If you don’t have oily skin and are planning to try this serum, I highly recommend that you buy the day cream as well since this tends to work better when used together.
As for me, after having used a few serums from different brands I’m beginning to think my skin doesn’t like serums or serums don’t like my skin… whatever! You get the picture, right? If you do know any lightweight brightening serum that suits sensitive, oily, blemish-prone skin, please do let me know in the comments below.
