Lakme 9to5 Range is back with a bang! The all new shades with the added primer to it are painting the town with its increased staying power and marvellous pigmentation. We at Wiseshe have done a post on the Swatches of these lipsticks which you must check out. Now it is time for the individual review and here’s the detailed one for Saffron Gossip. Enjoy!
What does the brand claim about the product:
Sets a flawless base and evens out your lips for smooth application. Highly pigmented shades that have rich and intense colour payoff. Delivers a fine matte finish on your lips that lasts up to 12 hrs.
For a precision pro-matte finish, line your lips with the Lakmé 9to5 Lip Liner before applying the Lakme 9to5 Primer + Matte Lip Colour.

The packaging of this range is pretty similar to the previous Lakme 9 to 5 Range. It comes in a box packaging with the name of the range written over it. The case is very beautiful with a rose gold metallic sheen to it. The packaging looks luxurious and it sits pretty on my makeup vanity. Love <3
Texture And Pigmentation:
The texture of the lipstick is pretty similar to the previous range. The only difference according to me is these lipsticks feel a bit waxier compared to the previous range as these have primer in them. They last really long and are really highly pigmented. One swipe is enough to cover pigmented lips.
The shade Saffron Gossip stays on the lips for 5-6 hours with light meals in between.
Saffron gossip is a yellow toned bright shade of orange. It looks a little neonish in artificial light. Great face brightening shade for fair to medium skin tone.
What I feel about the lipstick:
The Lakme 9to5 shade Saffron Orange is a good choice for fair skin tone ladies with a cooler undertone but definitely not a very good choice for the other family like me. It kind of washes me out and I don’t look good after wearing it. It is not an everyday colour as it has a neonish hint to it and is really stark when compared to the other subtle oranges available in the market. The pigmentation, texture and staying power is really a pro which makes it a decent buy if you love oranges. For me, I will skip it:
Why do I like the lipstick:
- Suitable for fair to medium skin tone
- Face brightener shade
- Orange is the flavour of the season
- Great for summers
- Decent pricing
- Great pigmentation
- Stays for long
- Comfortable matte finish
Why do I dislike the lipstick:
- Not suitable for medium to deeper skin tones
- Neonish in nature which won’t be everyone’s favourite
- The bullet is not the most user-friendly
- A little waxy
Recommendation: If you are fair to medium skin tone and love stark oranges, then this can be your baby. For me, I prefer to skip it!
