Lakme Absolute Lip Pouts Matte Masaba Lip Color Review and Swatches
Hello friends! I’m sure you must have come across images of this gorgeous new collection and I wouldn’t want to keep you in suspense about its performance any longer. So here goes..
Lakme has released a highly anticipated, first-time collaboration with designer Masaba Gupta evoking fragrant childhood memories of bright colours and sweet candy. For a change, the designer is also the face of campaign for these lippies. Love that brands are starting to include all types of skintones in their ads! The ads themselves have been eye-catching with bright colours and quirky designs.
The collection consists of 10 shades based on candies that we obsessed over during our childhood. They were kind enough to send a package containing 5 Lip Pouts and wasn’t it the sweetest package ever! (Literally!) Along with the Lip Pouts there was a liberal sprinkling of candies all over and no prizes for guessing who loved the box more – me or my daughter!
What does the brand say :-
LIMITED EDITION COLLECTION!
An exclusive collection of vibrant + matte lip crayons by Masaba.
10 vivid and super versatile shades.
Price: 750 for 3.7gm
The packaging has been designed by Masaba and is absolutely dazzling. One difference about these lip crayons compared to other collections is that each shade has a different design on it. They look stunning and it just adds an extra element of fun and style when you take it out of your purse and apply it in front of everyone. For the girl that likes variety – these are an utter joy.
Performance and Application:-
Keeping in line with the theme, they smell like delicious candies (Try not to eat them!). One big worry with matte lip products is whether they go on comfortably on the lips. No such worries here! They are lightweight and glide on smoothly when swiped on the lips. Most of the shades are nicely pigmented but it does take 2-3 swipes for a few shades to get a decent amount of colour to show up.
The shades are swatched below from Right to Left – Bubble Pink, Orange Candy, Caramel Toffee, Role-a-Cola, and Cherry Bite.
Shade descriptions :-
⦁ Bubble pink – It is a bright, blue based pink and evokes memories of MAC’s Candy Yum Yum. One for those days when you need a pick me up!
⦁ Orange candy – This is an orange shade which is pretty peppy and doesn’t have red tones to it. It is a true orange shade and will stunning on light skinned beauties.
⦁ Caramel Toffee – This shade is bound to be a much sought after colour. It is a brown based nude and will look gorgeous on most Indian skin tones. I absolutely adore this shade and can’t wait to show it off!
⦁ Role-a-Cola – This vampy, dark berry shade is one is not for the faint hearted but is Masaba’s personal favourite from the collection. If one ever wants to try a colour of this sort, this lip crayon is a good pick since it will let the undertones of your natural lip colour through.
⦁ Cherry Bite – It is a lovely magenta shade with undertones of red. For one of those days when you want to wear a red but don’t want to wear a red, if you know what I mean!
On the whole this collection seems well thought out, beautifully designed and there’s a shade for everyone in it – whether they love neutrals or bright pops of colours. The price is also reasonable compared to lip crayons from other brands. A definite must-pick-up from me!
