Estée Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup for Face and Body Review
Hello lovelies! How are you today? I just got off the phone with my best friend. She has been in my life since I was in diapers and I’m so grateful that no matter what happens, I know that she will be around ready to pick me up. Just like her, there are some products that you run to in times of trouble and you know they won’t fail you no matter what!
The Estée Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup for Face and Body SPF 15 is one such product for me. Let me tell you more about it.. What the brand says:12-hour wear. Natural-looking. Long-wearing.This soothing liquid-creme makeup is designed to camouflage all skin imperfections, including surgical and acne scars, tattoos, birthmarks, sun spots and varicose veins. Helps protect with SPF 15.Formula facts⦁ Broad spectrum spf 15⦁ Dermatologist-tested⦁ Non-acnegenic; won’t clog pores.

True to the Estee Lauder aesthetic, the packaging looks extremely elegant and sophisticated. It comes in a slim, blue and gold squeeze tube and I’m glad it’s so travel friendly.

Shade range:I’m beginning with the only flaw with this product. It comes in a measly 7 shades! In this day and age where even budget foundations come in a range of shades and undertones, this is inexcusable by Estee Lauder. I do hope they expand the shade range because it’s sad if the only reason you cannot use a brilliant product is that you don’t have a shade match. As for me, I was lucky enough that the shade 4N1 Spiced Sand matched my skin tone. I’m an NC42 (sometimes NC43.5) in MAC to give you a better understanding of my skin tone. 4N1 Spiced Sand is the second to last darkest shade in the lineup and I really, really hope the shade range turns more inclusive towards duskier beauties.
Performance:The foundation is creamy and not runny at all. In that sense, it is a proper old-school foundation, not like the light ones we see these days. It spreads fairly easily and a little goes a long way, so use it sparingly. You will need a brush to buff this in well, because when I used my fingers to apply, a few pores were visible. Now on to the USP of the product – it’s absolutely stellar performance! The foundation is very, very pigmented and does what it says on the tube. It is the fullest coverage I have ever seen in a foundation, excluding theatre makeup. It dries to a flat matte finish. Because it’s so pigmented and dries matte, your skin will look flat and you will need some blush, bronzer or highlighter to add some life to your skin.As for the lasting power, well… Nothing really lasts on my terribly oily skin. I have to use the trifecta of primer, setting spray and setting powder for foundation to last even 3-4 hours, but this one didn’t need the help of other products to work. I left it on for a whole day and night (Yes, I slept with my makeup on! Shame on me ). The next morning my skin still looked polished and put together, albeit quite oily. Because it is so long lasting, it is not easy to get this foundation off with plain old soap and water. You will need a proper oil/balm cleanser to remove all traces of this foundation from your face.Another pro is that it contains SPF 15. Now to be honest, SPF 15 is barely enough for genuine sun protection but some protection is better than none, so we can consider this as another advantage of using this. One worry with SPF in foundations is the possibility of flashback while taking photos. I did not observe any flashback so it just adds to the allure of this foundation.
On a personal note, I’m a little sentimental about this product. When I was pregnant, along with the heartburn and acidity, I developed dark patches all over my neck and my skin basically gave up on me. This foundation was the only one that managed to cover imperfections and gave me some confidence to step out knowing that my skin looked good. For that, it will always own my heart!
Is it worth it?It is not cheap at all, coming in at Rs 3300 for a small tube. But the performance is spectacular if you’re looking for a full coverage, travel-friendly foundation. Ladies with problem skin might especially find this useful. The lucky ladies with normal and trouble free skin won’t really need such a powerful foundation because they can get away with using lighter and less pigmented ones. All in all, Estee Lauder may be considered a brand that’s somewhat staid and geared towards the older and sophisticated crowd, but they know how to do their foundations right! This one hits it out of the park and will be a constant presence in my foundation wardrobe.
