10 Makeup Must Haves For Desi/Indian, Dusky/Brown Girls When Attending A Wedding

10 Makeup Must Haves For Desi/Indian, Dusky/Brown Girls When Attending A Wedding

Wedding season has just gone by and there are more weddings in the offing. You will find many people giving tips to the brides regarding beauty, makeup and trousseau but rarely anyone thinks about the bridesmaids or other ladies at the wedding.

I recently attended my sister’s wedding and as it was the first wedding that involved me very closely, I was seriously looking for some good advice. Ritika suggested me getting a custom-made saree and Ana gave me makeup ideas. I thank both the beautiful girls for their suggestions 🙂

For me, outfits are a lot easier to find than finding the right makeup so it seems like a good idea to suggest some essential makeup items to the dusky girls who will be attending a wedding soon. I’m suggesting what I could get in Jaipur and found useful-

The Base

Besides the CTM and my Colorbar Primer, the right makeup base is the most important thing in marriage functions. I have dusky skin with some darkness around mouth but thanks to winters and good skin care, it was not too visible even without makeup. The first thing that I bought was Oriflame Very Me Peach Me Perfect Skin Glow in Light shade. It is sheer but gives instant glow to skin and I love to use it either alone or over foundation. The second product was The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream in shade 03. This is the most amazing BB cream I have used till now. The shade was dark for me as I bought it after roaming in sun all day. I mixed the BB cream with a light shade of foundation to get the right shade.

I bought a ‘real’ foundation also. It was Inglot AMC Cream foundation in shade MW 102. Though it is a cream foundation, it did not turn my oily skin greasy and neither did it oxidize. I skipped compact powder and dusted just a little translucent powder.

I got Inglot AMC cream concealer. I have a stick concealer from Manhattan too. To cancel the darkness, I wanted a colour corrector but couldn’t find one so I bought Maybelline Color Tattoo in Fierce and Tangy. The eyeshadow works well as a colour corrector but is a pain to remove.

I do not have many eyeshadows and depend mainly on Accessorize Lovely Day palette. For the wedding, Ana suggested me to try L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Endless Chocolate and I loved how it looked with my wedding attire. I used eyeshadow base from Essence.

I used Bourjois Paris Blush in Rose Frisson mostly as it is my current fav blush. For the main function, I wanted an earthy look and used Faces Glam On blush in Gold Dust. Another blush that I used was Manhattan blush in Apricot.

Mascara and Kohl

I love Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express mascara. Maybelline gel eyeliner and Lakme Eyeconic kajal in black & brown were the two other things that I used to enhance my eyes.

I also used Maybelline Color Show Crayon in Shiny Beige for opening up my eyes and Maybelline EyeStudio liner in gold colour for brightening. Catrice eyebrow pencil in Brow-n-eyed Peas works for my brows.

Bronzer and Highlighter

I do not use bronzer a lot and the one that I carried was Essence bronzing compact powder in 02. Colorbar Radiant Glow highlighter is what I like for some glow.

Lippies are my favourite makeup items. I used Inglot Freedom system lipstick 37 for the main function. The other lipsticks that I used were Street Wear Riveting Rouge and Runway Russet, Nyx Round lipstick B52 and MAC Viva Glam 3.

Colorbar Nude Pink and Inglot Lipliner 851

Nail Colours

I used Maybelline Color Show nail paint in Feisty Fuchsia and Dazzling Diva. There was one green-gold nail paint from a German brand and Elle 18 Nail Pops in 59.

Blotting Paper

Essence sun club oil control paper.

  1. Lovely post. If you are still looking for a colour corrector then do try kyolan. I got an orange corrector from them for Rs.350/- I think it’s from the Derma colour range (I hope I got the name of the range right). It’s very light weight and easy to remove 🙂
