10 Makeup Tips For Dark Skin
Whenever we look for makeup tips, we get light skinned girls flaunting any makeup with ease. If we look for dark skin then mostly we get to see, dark African skin tones. Dark or dusky Indian skin is neither fair to medium nor too dark and so finding the right makeup suggestions for such skin tones is quite a task.
Here I’m taking this matter in my hands as I have dusky Indian skin. Dusky Indian skins also have pigmentation issues on certain areas of face most of the time and so good makeup becomes a necessity. My makeup idol is Lisa Haydon. I love how she looks fresh and gorgeous with minimal makeup.
I hope the following Makeup Tips For Dark Indian Skin will help many girls as I’m suggesting shades that I think look good on my dark Indian skin-
Pamper Your Skin
A dry and patchy or oily skin never looks good and is even more highlighted by makeup. These flaws make skin look really bad and so the right makeup starts with good skin care. Regular CTM routine, exfoliation and hydration make skin look good. Follow good skin care regime religiously instead of trying to lighten your skin. A glowing skin always looks good regardless of the complexion.
Wrong colours of foundations look worst on dark skin. Anything too light will definitely make you turn look like an ashy ghost. Makeup also tends to oxidize on darker skins especially if you are on the oily side. I used to buy darker foundation so that they match with the pigmentation around my mouth. As a result I used to end up looking darker and dull. Now I match my foundation to the lighter areas of the skin near jawline.

Concealer and Corrector
Obviously if you are choosing a foundation matching to the lighter ares of skin, the darker areas will be highlighted and will not look good. To solve the problem, I use an orange lipstick for color correction followed by a concealer. If you can lay your hands on an orange color corrector, nothing like that.
Dark circles are not prominent on dark skins but using an illuminating concealer works wonders. Do not choose a very light concealer though.

There are many colours to choose from but frosty colours do not look great on dark skins. Brown, taupe, bronze, burgundy, plum and copper etc. work very well on dark skins. Metallic colours look amazing as well.
Black, brown, navy are the suitable colours for eyeliners. Use gold based highlighters for eyes.
Never skip the mascara.
From fresh corals to deep peaches, you can try many shades. Earthy bronze, deep orange and fuchsia are the colours to go for. My personal favourites are apricot and earthy browns.

Use a foundation to cancel out the lips pigmentation or fill your lips with a nude brown lip liner. Deep or bright shades of pink make dark complexion look stunning. Reds are another colour family for you but do not choose blood red shades. Plums and browns will make you look good but choose browns with pink hues. Nude lips also look good on dark skins and always pick browns with pink undertone for the purpose. Burgundy lips will make you look bright as well. I personally do not like frosty colours on dark skin.
Either use a powder close to your skin tone or use a translucent powder to finish your makeup. I like translucent powder the most and use coloured powders only if I’m not wearing any foundation.
Pastels and nudes are my favourites. The other colours that you can go for are pink-coral, maroon, deep red, black, forest green, pink and fuchsia etc.
If you think that you do not need sun protection because you are dark then you are totally wrong. Dark skins tend to tan easily and start looking dull within an hour of sun exposure. To prevent this from happening, always apply a sunscreen before stepping out in the sun. SPF 30 is good enough for dusky skin.
