10 Prom Makeup Tips
There are many girls who treat their prom like their own wedding days. Prom is an exciting event for teenagers and girls spend days and nights thinking about the prom dress, the shoes and the special one.
But beside these, proper makeup is also very essential on the teenagers’ “D-Dayâ€. It helps a lot in enhancing your best features and hides flaws (if any).
Apply face and eye primer
Using a makeup primer is the best way to make your makeup stay put on for longer. Clean, tone and moisturize your face and apply primer all over, don’t forget your neck.
Use a foundation with NO SPF. SPF can make your face look white or flashed out in photography. Use a brush, or pat it gently instead of rubbing and blend well.
(NOTE: I always prefer foundation first because it allows me to see which areas on the face need more coverage.)
Apply a concealer with no SPF under your eyes and on imperfections, like corners of lips, corners of nose, etc.
Pick your eyes or lips
Decide whether you want to focus on your eyes or on your lips, and what colors to choose. Focus on lips or eyes. Don’t go overboard by doing both eyes and lips.
If you choose eyes
Go for smoky eyes without any second thoughts. If you don’t want to stick to traditional black smoky eyes, choose blues and greens or even purples to complement your eye color. Choose shimmery eye shadows instead of matte ones. To complement dark eyes go for pretty pink glosses, pink-nude lipsticks.
If you choose lips
Go for bold lips. Choose reds, fuchsia and oranges. For eyes keep it simple. A simple cat liner or winged liner would be enough. Highlight the inner duct area.
Apply blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend outwards. Don’t overdo it otherwise you’ll end up looking like a clown. Choose blushes in shades of pink and roses.
You can either use a setting spray to finish the look or just take a clean puff and buff away all cakey spots. No makeup look is really in trend. Blend well.
Keep it Simple, yet stunning
Just because it is prom doesn’t mean you need to go wild with hair and makeup if you don’t want to. So if you don’t want to experiment, keep it simple. Nothing can beat the comfort factor.
Pay attention to products in your handbag
Keep a few things handy. A comb, a gloss/balm, tissues/bloating paper and chewing gums.
Remember never to go overboard. Less is more.
