10 Quick Home Remedies For Skin Rashes

Rash is generally caused by a skin irritation that can result from an allergy, infection, or skin problem like eczema or psoriasis. It is a noticeable change in the texture or color of the skin. The skin may become itchy, bumpy, chapped, scaly, or otherwise irritated.

While some rashes can only be cured after proper diagnosis and medications, while some skin rashes which usually come on unexpectedly due to stress, illness or allergic reactions to topical lotions and creams, can be treated at home as well.

So here are some quick home remedies for treating rashes:

Aloe Vera:

The most reliable of all. I blindly head towards my aloe vera plant whenever I see any redness on my skin. It’s a soothing body rub and acts as an antidote to allergic skin reactions.

Neem bath:

Boil a few neem leaves and mix the warm water into your bathing water. This will keep the rashes at bay.

Neem and turmeric paste:

Soak neem leaves overnight and make a paste of it the next day. You can add raw turmeric for added advantage. Apply this paste daily on the affected areas before bath. Neem and turmeric paste is useful for applying to your skin for alleviating a variety of skin disorders, including itching and blemishes.

You can also use grounded dry neem leaves mixed with turmeric powder and rose water/curd to make a paste.

Chamomile or Calendula tea:

Soak some camomile or calendula flowers in water overnight and boil it the next day. Apply directly to the affected areas as often as needed, as their anti- inflammatory properties will help relieve your discomfort.

Cucumber puree:

Make cucumber puree from freshly peeled cucumbers and apply the paste directly to the affected areas and massage gently with light circular motions for 3-5 minutes to relieve your itching and pain.

Oatmeal bath:

Yes, even I was astonished when I was given oatmeal to bath with during my chicken-pox days. But the result was astonishing too. Just soak some un-cooked oatmeal in your bathing water and bath with it. Oatmeal contains compounds that reduce inflammation.

Garlic Paste:

Make a paste of 3-4 garlic bulbs and mix with a few drops of olive oil. Apply the paste directly to your skin rash once daily until it is gone.

Strawberry heads :

Use the head of the strawberries and rub it directly on skin and let dry. It helps in reducing inflammations and your skin will be really soft and less itchy.

Toothpaste:

One of the most easily available thing at home. Apply it on the affected area. The normal white toothpaste, for e.g Colgate is preferred as it contains mint, which gives coolness and reduces both itching and pain.

Break open the capsule and use the ointment inside on the affected area to sooth the rashes nourishes skin. You can also add few drops of almond/olive oil with it.

Beside these, up your vitamin C intake by eating plenty of citrus fruits, papayas, broccoli, bell peppers, strawberries, kiwis, cantaloupe, kale and cauliflower while you are treating the rash. If, even after 3 days, your rashes still remain as before, then stop searching for further remedies and head to your dermatologist as soon as possible.
