I so love scrubs and when they are handmade, it feels so good, because then I do not have any botheration regarding the chemicals that we get in commercially sold scrubs.
You all must have some idea about salt scrubs, right? Probably many of your might just know about them in detail and be a fan of using them. Salt scrubs are great for skin exfoliation since they have capabilities of gentle abrasive actions, scrub away dead skin cells and give you softer skin.
There is a myth behind handmade salt scrubs. It is popularly believed that only fancy salts can be included in scrubs. Though I too will be mentioning some fancy salts for the scrub recipes, but it is no hard and fast rule to only use those salts.
For a basic salt scrub you can simply use the easily available table salt. But when it comes it ultimate pampering and have an ultimate luxurious feel you need to chose sea salts, dead sea salts or other bath salts, these salts are too not hard to find and will available at beauty & cosmetic stores.
You must now be relieved about the salt availability issue now, and let us now have a look at some of the easy handmade salt scrub recipes:
Orange Coconut Scrub
Orange and coconut are the two most loved ingredients in skin care and there is no denying how well they will work in a scrub. Orange is rich in vitamin C, which is crucial for boosting collagen and reduce facial acne while coconut oil moisturizes your skin to give a natural glow to skin.
Fill a jar with half a cup of sea salt, now add one third cup of raw sugar on top of it. Pour half a cup of coconut oil, 30 drops of orange juice and one tablespoon of essential oils. Mix all of them together and there you have your body scrub ready.
Peppermint Foot Scrub
Take 1 cup of Epsom salt, 1 cup of sea salt, 20 â€“ 30 drops of peppermint oil and 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil. Pour all the ingredients in a jar and mix them together. Use this foot scrub twice a week to soothe rough heels. The tea tree oil in the scrub will serve the anti bacterial purposes.
Rosemary Lemon Salt Scrub
A savory herb mixed with lemon and sea salt is like an ultimate treat for your skin.
Take 1 cup each of sugar & Epsom salt, some freshly chopped rosemary, Â¾ cup of nay preferred carrier oil and few drops of Rosemary essential oil & Peppermint oil. Mix all the ingredients in a big glass jar and there you have your body scrub ready. This scrub is great for dry skins.
Rosehip and Lavender Oil Salt Scrub
Lavender salt scrub is totally apt for dry skin and also for livening up your mood. Simply mix one cup of sea salt, half a cup of rose hip oil and 20 drops of lavender essential oil in a glass jar. You can also add in some crushed lavender leaves, this is absolutely optional.
Oatmeal & Patchouli Salt Scrub
Add half a cup of olive oil to one and a half cups of sea salt $ half a cup of grounded oatmeal and mix them together in a clean glass jar. Now add 8-10 drops of patchouli essential oil and half a cup of olive oil in the jar and mix again. There you have your soothing, relaxing body scrub.
Since these are salt scrubs, please be careful and do not use them on open cuts or with very harsh movements. If you find your scrubs to be too coarse, then you can ground your salts before making a scrub.
