5 Natural Moisturizers For Dry Skin
Dry and flaky skin is one common beauty problem that many complain about especially during winters. The chilly, dry winter breeze sucks moisture from skin leaving it dry and dull.Â However there is not only the winters that are responsible for dry skin infact aging, genetic predisposition and nutritional deficiencies are too responsible for dry skin.
There is a vast variety of lotions and moisturizers available in the market to combat dry skin. But these often common with hefty price tags or are laden with heavy chemical formulas. How about some natural skin moisturizers that will prove to be a boon for dry skin?
We have known olive oil, coconut oil and almond oil as some of the best moisturizers for dry skin. Today I shall share some other natural moisturizers which are not only cheap but are also very effective, hydrating and provide nourishment to dry skin and make it healthy. Have a look.
Milk Cream has lactic acid, which helps to exfoliate dry skin. Milk Cream soothes the skin, preserves the skinâ€™s delicate PH levels and is also a great moisturizer. There are few ways to use milk cream as a moisturizer. You can mix a few drops of lemon juice with one teaspoon of milk and two teaspoons of milk cream. Rub this mixture on your hands and legs. Do this before taking shower, leave it on for a while.
Alternatively, add enough milk cream to three tablespoons of gram flour to make a thick paste. Apply this to your body and face, massage for a while and leave for five-ten minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water.
Honey is known as one of the best natural moisturizer which is loaded with antioxidants, antimicrobials and humectants properties. Honey locks moisture in skin to make skin extra soft and smooth. Not just it, honey also has many essential vitamins and minerals that help improve the overall skinâ€™s health.
Simply rub honey all over body and leave it on for five-ten minutes. And rinse off, or take a shower.
Yogurt is known as an excellent skin hydrating natural product. Yogurt has anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory properties which help soothe dry and itchy skin and also has lactic acid which helps in getting rid of any germs or bacteria that may be responsible for causing dryness or itchiness.
You can simply apply fresh yogurt hands, face and legs in regular massaging motions. Leave it on for ten minutes before taking a shower. This will remove dryness and leave skin refreshed.
Alternatively mix half a cup of yogurt with three tablespoons of mashed papaya. Add few drops of lemon juice and honey and mix thoroughly well. Apply it to skin and leave on for ten minutes before washing off. This can be done once a week.
Aloe Vera is popularly known for itsÂ soothing, antiseptic and antifungal properties. These help to combat dry, irritated skin and prevent flaking. To use aloe vera as a moisturizer all you need to do is to simply cut open a fresh aloe vera leaf and squeeze out the gel. Now apply this gel on your skin and let it sit for ten to fifteen minutes. Rinse off.
Avocado needs no introduction for its moisturizing properties. It is packed with fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants that help improve skin overall health. It has a high Vitamin A content which helps in skin maintenance and repairs the skin leaving it soft & smooth.
Mash an avocado to form a smooth paste. Rub the mashed pulp all over skin and let it sit on skin for ten â€“ fifteen minutes. Rinse off with cold water. Alternatively for extra skin, you can mash half a ripe avocado and mix with some honey. Apply this pack all over body and rinse off after 15 minutes. Use it twice a week.
