Allo matar ke kofte (हरी मटर के कोफ्ते)-Easy Kofta recipe

This is one of the easiest kofta recipe I have come across. It hardly took me half an hour in making these koftas when I made koftas for around 8 people.Kofta is one the most preferred Indian food recipes and if friends are coming home then there is nothing better then this. There was no tension of breaking down of koftas. If koftas don’t break then almost 90% of work is done.Isn’t?

So lets start with my veg kofta recipe

300 grams of peas(Matar .I used the frozen matar therefore I didn’t have to boil them.I just kept them under water for 10-15 minutes and then mashed them.If you are not using frozen peas then boil them and mask them up)
2-3 boiled potatoes
4-5 tbsp besan (gram flour){This is basically for binding the koftas so you can increase or decrease the quantity according to your choice)
1-2 green chillies chopped
1 inch shredded ginger
Salt to taste

For gravy

3 medium size tomatoes
1-2 onion
2 green chillies
1 inch ginger shredded
1 or 2 tbsp oil or ghee (as u prefer)
1/2 tsp cumin seeds(jeera)
1/4tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1tsp coriander powder
2tbsp cream or milai
14tsp garam masala
Salt to taste
Oil to fry the koftas
Chopped coriander/cilantro for garnishing(I went to buy it but it was not available so didn’t garnish my recipe:(

 Method and Preparation:-

Step1-Take a bowl and add the peas and mash them nicely.Add boiled potatoes, shredded ginger, besan (gram flour), salt, chopped green chilli, and mix all the ingredients nicely .

Step2-Make lemon size ball of this mixture and fry them in oil.(Oil should be hot). When Koftas are fried then take them out in a plate and keep them aside.
(It is always better to fry koftas in 4-5 quantities otherwise chances of them breaking out is more)

Step3-Take a mixer grinder and add ginger, tomatoes , onion and green chillies in it.Grind the mixture and make a paste of it. (You can 2-3 cloves of garlic too if you want)

Step4-Now take another pan add 1-2 tsp of oil in it.When oil is hot add cumin seeds.Add the onion and tomato paste and saute it for 2-3 minutes.

Step5-Add, salt , red chilli powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder and milai or cream in it.Saute again the masala for 3-4 minutes.

Step6-Add around 1 and half cup of water in the gravy .(If you prefer thick curry then add less water and if light then add little more water).Give 2-3 boils to the curry so that all the masalas get imbibed in the water.

Step7 -Add koftas and garnish with coriander

Serve with parantha, naan or rice.
