Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Cream 10% Glycolic AHA
Hey all beauty geeks!!! I know; ‘another glycolic product’!!! I am such a fan of glycolic acid, that I buy anything and everything that has glycolic acid in it. And till today I have always been lucky to find stuff that works for me. Reviva Labs 5% glycolic cream was my everyday essential cream till it finished and I decided to move on to a 10% concentration cream. I bought Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Cream 10% Glycolic AHA while shopping online on Ulta.com to reach the minimum free shipping. I could have bought more makeup but I do give importance to good skincare products as well. 😉 So, let us find out my experience with another glycolic acid cream.
About Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Cream 10% Glycolic AHA:

My take on Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Cream 10% Glycolic AHA:
For those of you who do not know about my struggle with adult acne, my face was a ‘battleground’ of acne till last year. The only thing that really helped me to get rid of persistent acne was glycolic acid and Reviva Labs 5% cream was my HG product. So, as with all of us, I became complacent and took the good condition of my skin as for granted and started experiment with other different products. Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Cream 10% Glycolic AHA is a cream formulation that has an advanced level of glycolic acid concentration in it. It is generally advised to start with such creams after regular use of glycolic acid in smaller concentrations.
Texture: Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Cream 10% Glycolic AHA has a medium consistency. It is not very thick but creamy and smooth. Applies evenly and also gets absorbed really fast. You may apply another moisturizer after it. I did not as my face did not feel dry after the application.
My experience: As I am used to glycolic acid on my face, I started applying the cream twice a day. You might need to start slowly if you are not a regular user of glycolic acid. The cream did not sting at all. I was really surprised as the Reviva cream used to sting even if it was just 5%. I still continued to use the cream, thinking my face has become used to the higher concentration. Though the cream states it is oil-free, it made my face very oily after 4-5 hours. Every morning I would get up with an oil slick on face. And then, it broke me out. Yup, a glycolic acid cream broke me out. It was then I decided to stop using this cream and go back to my beloved Reviva Labs cream.
Smell: The cream had a horrible chemical smell which did reduce after a while.
Packaging: This cream comes in a white tub with a red lid.
What I like about Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Cream 10% Glycolic AHA:
- Does not dry out the face.
- May suit normal or dry skinned people.
- Good for beginners as it does not sting.
What I do not like about Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Cream 10% Glycolic AHA:
- Not suitable for oily skin.
- May break you out.
- Horrible smell.
- Though I used it only for week, I did not find it very effective as I expected.
- Tub packaging.
- Unavailability in India.
I experienced the horror of acne again, may be because of this cream. I generally test all skincare products for a month before I review them. But, I could not continue using it as I did not find it very effective and it was not suitable for my skin. This incident has made me realized that if something works for you, stick to it and do not pick up any random thing for your face. So, beauties it is a complete no from my side for this cream. It may work out for you, but I will never buy this cream again.
